Default Appealing decision

I was just approved for LTD benefits thru my former employer that will expire in 2/2011. Last week, I was denied SSDI benefits.

I am a 45yr diabetic with severe neuropathy and diabetic nephrology.

My LTD carrier stated to me they have attorneys that help in the appeal process however I have been reading that it is best to get an outside attorney for the appeal process. Has anyone been in the same situation which way did you have better success? Also any recommendation on disability attorney. I heard Allsup has a high degree of success.....

I live in Kentucky
Thanks
