I have been denied twice now. I hired Allsup (recommended by by LTD carrier) for the reconsideration appeal and today I received yet another denial letter.

Has anyone been approved for diabetic neuropathy and diabetic nephrology?

My doctors are all on board and have written numerous letters of my restrictions and prognosis as well as emg and lab results..but yet I am still denied.?? What does it take or what are they looking for.

Keep going do not quit same thing happen to me filed with ALJ and denied appeals council would not look at filed for court government attonery said send it back to appeals , filed 2 time denied wanting for ALJ hearing should have one in 3*4 months hang in there DO NOT GIVE UP thats what they want you to do GO AWAY but DON"T

Do you know exactly what your docs have written ? Are you sure they are being specific enough ?

When did you have to quit work ? What couldn't you do anymore ? For example, if your docs say you can't stand for more than a few minutes, SSDI might think you can still do a desk job

If you post more about how you are limited by your conditions, we could tell if we see any obvious "holes" in your documentation. I believe my early denials were in part because of my poor documentation, I tended to put more "best case scenario" stuff instead of average day

I was a manager at Verizon Wireless store..so I was on my feet all day. In the stores chairs are not allowed and it has been a big issue with people.
My neuropathy worsened over the years until 8/08 where I lost total sensation in my feet and now the neuropathy has travelled to my legs and right arm causing weakness as well. My neurologist and kidney doctor are writing letters and filling out forms. The answers to one form my neurologist filled out are listed below.

I have a copy of the form

(Medical Source Statement of Ability to do work related activities (physical)

Lifting = up to 10 lbs occasionally up to 1/3
Carrying = up to 10 lbs never

At one Time
Sitting =less than 15 mins.
standing= less than 15 mins
walking= less than 5 mins

Total in 8 hour day
sit = 1 hour
stand less than 15 mins
walk less than 15 mins

Use of hands
right hand
reaching overhead =1/3 occasionally
reaching all other= 1/3 occasionally
handling = 1/3 ocassionally
fingering= 1/3 ocassionally
feeling= 1/3 ocassionally
push/pull= 1/3 occassionally

Use of hands
left hand
reaching overhead =1/3 occasionally
reaching all other= 1/3 occasionally
handling = 1/3 ocassionally
fingering= 1/3 ocassionally
feeling= 1/3 ocassionally
push/pull= 1/3 occassionally

Use of feet
operation of foot controls = never

Postural Activities
climb stairs and ramps= never
climb laddders or scaffolds=never

I left off the remainder categories which answer were either never or 1/3 occasionally.

The same thing has happened too me. I have been denied twice now. I hired a lawyer for the reconsideration appeal and in about 3 months I received the letter that I had been denied yet again. That was in 2008. I started this in Jan 2007.

I think just about everyone is denied the first two times. My lawyer said that we will need to get a hearing with the ALJ now. He is working on a DOR. I hope this works and I don't have to have a hearing.
Don't give up. That is what they want. Good luck. I will keep you in my prayers.

I just won my hearing before the ALJ with Allsup. Make sure you have no other job skills you can do. Anything you have done in the past. 1 of the questions they asked me was can you make change .etc I have only done factory work so I couldn't I said. Just make sure you remember your last 4 jobs as the judge will ask you this.
