Kids in backpay??? HELP!!!!

Default Kids in backpay??? HELP!!!!
I just got my fully favorable letter yesterday for SSDI. My onset date is 6/13/08. What do I have to do to get benefits for my kids? Is it included in backpay? They are 15, 16, and 18 right now.

You have to apply for benefits for your children.....have you done that ?

You have to file for them. You will not get anything further for the 18 year old. They lose out on benefits when they either turn 18 or graduate high school which ever is last.

I went this AM and applied. The SSA said I had to prove "half support" in order for them to qualify, which Im sure I will. They will get back pay and after the 18 graduated his part gets divided between the other 2.

This is the same thing that happened to me. I was approved June 24th. I also have an 18 year old. And they said her money will now be divided between my 10 and 15 year old. That's nice that we do not lose any money. You will also notice the kids backpay showing up before you get yours. All my daughters got theirs last week and I have yet to receive anything.
