I am new to these things, hope i am doing it right.

Help! I am in a dilemma, I am moving ever closer to having a spinal stimulation implant fitted, probably late April or May I have at least three more hospital appointments before I know if I am to be accepted for it. I have also been given some reading about what to expect, the implications are quite far reaching, things like no driving for six months, no lifting except something like a kettle, and no raising your arms above shoulder height, this is because it is possible to pull the leads out. After everything has settled down, it must not be switched on whilst driving or operating machinery, my hobby is wood turning both these things cause me pain so I can only switch it on after the event. All the time it is on you feel an electrical tingling sensation. So my question is has anyone on here got any experience on this implant or know anyone who has it and are they happy with it? I need to decide pretty soon if indeed it is offered to me as a candidate.
