If you haven't had a colonoscopy before, I think it's recommended at at 40 - 45 to do that.
and at your age, facing a surgery, they do colonoscopies before an impending surgery to rule out cancer of the colon, which is quite common. the thought being, if you have colon cancer, they don't want to subject you to surgery... You can take comfort in knowing you don't have cancer of the colon. Hope that helped.
