Default finally some relief...able to sleep

good day to all...being without medicine for 24 hrs again , took my mind to places, i found myself talking to my dad who committed suicide at the age of 47 years old(1980). an amputee, lost his left leg, before i was even born, due to a work injure. i remember him as being as a strong man but, he always had major depression. yesterday wasn't the best day for me i got my medicine at a late hour because by accident they went to my old apartment building instead of the one i currently live in. the owner lost the key for the narcotics cabinet and needed to go to another pharmacy to get it for me (trying to keep the mom and pop stores open i have a wall greens right up the block i could have gone there), but i got it at 7:00 24 hrs later and at 7:15 i took it an hour and a half to begin to have some relief from the center of my chest to the tip of my head my right arm witch at one time was the only arm that bothered me. before any surgery not being able to use my dominate side and now to say that after 2 surgeries my right arm down to my finger tips are the same as it felt before surgery. now not only do i suffer pain in my right arm but the pain is 3x worse on my left arm. being a recovering alcoholic it isn't a good feeling to have to be dependent on medicine. basically the whole point of this story is me not having my medicine made me talk to me father and beg him to protect me and my i wonder which side my pain comes from because my father had a work related injure pain and my mother who is still alive has a array of problems not to long ago had both knee's replaced had problems with her knee. i brought this up because i feel that my problems come from my mothers side. so what do i call myself a person who suffers physical pain and is a addict or a addict who suffers physical pain. for i am a long time recovering alcoholic and i know there is a forum for this to but i just wanted to get it out.

P.S. i was able to enjoy a wonderful salad that my 13 year old prepared and it took me forever to eat. and i sat down and really enjoyed my friends company.

wishing all a pain free day with a happy heart and may that supersede the pain. i am going to see my dog today that is medicine that i cant get enough for love is truly unconditional...he likes to lick my tears....lolz

welcome to new comers

Hi ~ I too am a recovering alcoholic who needs to take pain medication. I don't "worry" about it as much as I used to, because I take the medication for PAIN -- NOT to get "high" or to get a buzz. The incidence of people becoming addicted to their pain medication is quite low BECAUSE we are taking it for pain. I hope you're not feeling guilty for taking the medication just because you ARE a recovering alcoholic. I assume you don't drink anymore -- at least I HOPE not, as that would be very dangerous.

I'm glad you finally were able to get some sleep. I know how the lack of sleep can make the pain worse.

Take care & God bless. Hugs, Lee
