Hi mike, after you get your hardware in your body, you most likely will set off the alarms at security. I do anyway. I carry a card from my doctor that states I have a medical device, no worries....
I can feel my hardware inside kinda creek around on cold days, but no pain associated with it. I can do much of what I was not able to do before. I can't overdo it, or there is pain. I am fused C3-7 with a long bracket and screws etc. good luck to you. ginnie

Yes they do! , in the US it seems, i think the airport metal detectors over there are super sensitive, i had to lift my shirt and show my scar to the security officer before he would let me get on the plane!...lol...everywhere else i have travelled to in the world has been fine.

I too am glad to hear of your success in your surgery. It also gives others hope that a solution can be found for unbearable pain. I had 2 fusions, the first not working, but the second C3-7 was worth all I had to go through. Keep being good to yourself, and It was tood to read your positive post. ginnie

I am glad that after 5 years you are doing so well. This site sure offered me that same kind of compassion while I was scared to death too. I had C3-7 done. As far as feeling the hardware, I feel mine as well, and sometimes on cold days, I feel colder in my neck area. Sometimes a creak or two when I turn my head a certain way, but no real pain that is not endurable. I was glad to have a success to, and I sure read the posts here too. I root for everyone that faces this surgery.

10 days ago I slipped on our hardwood floors and twisted by back to avoid falling. It felt as though it set me way back. It felt like acute inflammation and sciatica. I'm just now getting pain free (for the most part). Am wondering if being diligent with my stretches/exercises would have avoided this. Anyone else have small set-backs? Scared me that I've damaged my surgery. (L4-S1).

Sorry you twisted to prevent a fall. I know that hurt. I did a few things to move the wrong way in those first few months of healing. Most of the time we can recover. If your pain does not go away from that, at least call your doc. and see if he thinks you need to be seen. Please be careful. I hope this pain goes away, and that your healing continues. ginnie

Thanks Ginny. Doc gave me thumbs up at 3 months; that the bone was all fused and healed. But he said I still couldn't lift even small weights, do push-ups, the like. I'll try getting back into my walking and if it still hurts to walk, I'll go see my doc.
