Default Female issue

Did any of you have your period when going in for a spinal fusion? I am having mine done and my period usually comes around that same time. I am freaking out and worried about it. Will they still do the surgery? Can you wear tampons? Sorry for the TMI...

You might check with your doctor/gynecologist to see if there's a pill you can take to delay it?
I know there are the birth control ones that you only have 3 periods a year.

I wish I could do that but my neurosurgeon says no because of the increased risk of blood clots. AAACKKK!!!

Hi,

I had my tonsils out when I was 16 and had my period, and no tampons, just a big pad (tell the nurses descretely and they will help you). Wow that was a long time ago... :P

BUT, you can go see your family doc ahead of time and explain, he can give you birth control pills to take and postpone your period for a month until you are finished surgery and a bit of recovery. There is no harm in missing one or two periods on bc pills.

Good tip for planning a wedding too... LOL.

Good luck with your surgery.
