Is it safe to have an MRI 6 months after 1 level disc surgery with titanium plate and cadaver bone?

I'm not sure you can have an MRI with a plate. You can have a CT scan but not an MRI. It's because of the metal. Hugs, Lee

MRI uses magnets (magnetic resonance imaging),so any magnetic metals are an issue.

But titanium is not magnetic. (Per google info just to double check..)
If any screws were used those would need to be known if magnetic or not.

Best idea is to inform any dr or tech of the plate etc and let them make the call.

I 2nd Jo Mar's advice. The facility will be able to determine if you can have an MRI. They will ask you specific questions about the type of implants you may have in your body, the location(s) as well ask about metal shavings, etc. I have several pins, several screws and a rod in various parts of my body and can have MRIs. All of my stuff is titanium. I'm about to add some more screws and plate this time . . .

I called the MRI place and they told me what I have is compatible.I will have to find out about the screw make though. I only know titanium plate with screws,but not what the screws are made of.

I just had an MRI last week and I have the same stuff + more in me, but it is in my cervical spine and the mri was my lumbar area. Since my neck area wasn't going to be in the machine, they said no problem. I did ask them that same question before the test, they said no issue because of the above, but they did say it could be a problem if those areas were in the machine because even though it is all titanium, the stuff CAN get slightly magnetized over time.

i had mri last year post acdf c4 thru c7 ----order by surgeon no problems
