Help doctors can't figure out what is causing problem.....
Hi, I am new to the forum, and I am wondering if anyone has had my symptoms. I injured my back in late December and went through the usual pain meds and muscle relaxers. I had an MRI done and it showed that I had lower lumbar spinal stenois L5-S1, and L2 - L3. There was not any buldging or ruptured disc that needed repaired. Started PT and had a ESI which helped immensely, but I was having pain in my left hip and leg so they did a Transforanimal ESI. This injection did not work. The PT told me I would be OK to lift a 40 lb bag of dog food, didn't work out so well for me. I re-injured back twice as bad as first time. I had the 3rd ESI which reduce the pain immensely, and I started with a different PT. About 2 weeks after the 3rd ESI I went to graduation and found that I could not walk up the stairs. When I visited the PT the next week he had me walk for him and told me to contact a neurosurgeon. That was mid May, it is now mid July. The neurosurgeon was sure I had ruptured a disc when I picked up the dog food, but the new MRI looked the same as the first one. Meanwhile I have low back and buttock pain when I stand and walk, weakness in both legs, pain and foot drop in the left leg. I saw a neurologist on Monday who performed an EMG and he states that everything is pointing to the back as the problem but the MRI doesn't support that. He is now referring me back to the neurosurgeon.
HELP....... I don't know what to do. I have asked for a weight bearing MRI. Has anyone ever experienced nerve damage from ESI?
