Default A few questions

I had someone suggest that I look into this forum for some answers to my neck problems... I was in an MVA in January... suffered a concussion and have had PCS since... here are some questions...

1- I am having more reticular issues from my neck since I have not had any treatment in 2 weeks... do I need to see a neurosurgeon or an orthopedic surgeon for this? budging at c4-5, c5-6, c6-7 all touching the spinal cord and i have stenosis..

2- could the above neck injury be causing the increased dizziness and headaches?

The Start: MVA, t-boned, on 1-12-14 (my sons 5th birthday) and did not think anything of it.. my back hurt on site but everything else seemed ok. Lost about 10-12 hours from about 3 hours after the accident to the next day...Experienced terrible brain fog for over a month, plus intense headaches, nausea, dizziness, cognitive difficulties, disorientation, no short term memory, depression and just an overall hangover feeling daily.

Current Situation: I'm about 7 months in and my local neurologist has waived her white flag and therefore I am headed to Dallas to be seen (I have family there). The headaches are still daily. I have nausea, dizziness as well.

Drugs I have been on- Vicodin (off), Naproxen (off), proanolol (off), topamax (off), cataflam (off), Midrin (off), Flexeril (off) and now Namenda XR (off), Nortrptylin (off), Verapamil (off)

Therapy- Osteopath, Vestibular and balance therapy, fuzion/soft tissue massage, acupuncture

Drs- ER (no help), GP, Chiropractor, Neurologist and Osteopath

Maybe it would help if I gave you the whole MRI report...

c3-4 mixed disc-osteophyte complex asymmetric to the left with thecal sac effacement, moderate left foraminal stenosis.

c4-5 bilobed disc displacement asymertric to the left with theca sac effacement. moderate left foraminal stenosis. mild right foraminal stenosis

c5-6 disc desiccation. broad disc protrusion with spinal cord effacement. AP diameter of the central canal measures 6mm. mild to moderate left foramina stenosis.

c6-7 disc desiccation. midline disc protrusion with spinal cord effacement. AP diameter of the central canal measures 6mm.

I am thinking you might try seeing a neurosurgeon instead of a neurologist. When I was seeing a neurologist he had me undergo a cervical MRI and a brain MRI. He said there were some abnormalities but nothing to account for my symptoms.

I brought the same neck MRI to a neurosurgeon and he said I needed emergency surgery because my spinal cord was flattened completely in two places. I told him about the neurologist and he said I should sue whoever missed this because I was in a serious and perilous situation that required immediate attention otherwise paralysis could happen at any moment (I was immediately put in a hard neck collar that I could not remove until three months after surgery).

My point is that when you are having symptoms that are causing a severe life style change like yours, you keep looking until you get answers no matter how long it takes.

You know that something is very wrong with you and this neurologist was not the right person to figure it out. Keep looking until you find the right doctor or specialist.

Sending up a few prayers asking for guidance can be very helpful too! Just in case you are not into that, I will be praying for you.
