Hello, I was wondering if I can get another opinion from my MRI results and nerve conduction studies? Dealing with a lot of pain that debilitates me some days. All help is appreciated.

Nerve conduction test says Minimal right C5 paraspinal irritation. Clinical correlation is advised.

MRI report says
Cervical alignment is appropriate. Cervical fusion is noted at C5-C6 and C7. Vertebral height is maintained. Craniocervical junction appears normal. Prevertebral soft tissues show no abnormality. Marrow and cord signal are within normal limits. Cervical degenerative change is as follows:
C2-C3: No significant abnormality.
C3-C4: Mild disc osteophytic bulge is present. No impingement.
C4-C5: Central disc osteophytic protrusion is present. This effaces the anterior thecal sac but does not clearly impinge upon the exiting nerve roots or cord.
C5-C6: Osteophytic ridging is present without convincing evidence of impingement.
C6-C7: Central osteophytic spurring is present. There is no impingement.
C7-T1: No significant abnormality.

Really frustrated as to what is causing such a problem in my life.
I guess this does not show it either.

Could the some of the pain be work , sports related at all?
*desk job, computer, sports, weightlifting, musician, previous whiplash/car
accidents?
Any previous RSIs , elbow pain. carpal tunnel etc?

How is your posture , head forward/shoulders forward, hunched ?

Have you had any expert PT or maybe a expert chiropractor evaluations?
Sometimes they do the hands on tests more so than MDs do.. plus they may be able to do some pain reliving modalities.. ultrasound, low level laser, IF stim...massage etc

I am going to say from personal experience, that once somethings goes wrong in the cervical spine, pain can be a constant recurrence. MRIs do not show any impingement that may happen whilst moving, and can even be misleading when it come to osteophytes. Sometimes these can only be completely visualized on a CT scan. Also, nerves sometimes get irritated, inflamed, and may develop a hypersensitivity of sorts from previous trauma. Sometimes a herniated disc can cause long lasting irritation, damage on a nerve. Herniated discs will be reabsorbed by the body in most cases, and if the MRI is taken after reabsorbtion has taken place, it can be very misleading. I have clinical proof of some of my herniated discs reabsorbing (huge extrusions), but still have nerve damage/ irritation that causes me pain.
