I was seeing a pain management dr for about 6 months ansd she was giving me esi and trigger point injections also with a small does of steroids in it also.
anyway my husband changed jobs and the dr did not take the new insurance so i had to find a new pain dr. so i went back to my pcp and asked for a referral to another pain dr( the old pain dr was refferred to me by my rheumatologist) so my pcp referred me and the new dr and my pcp together read the file that the old dr sent in and they both said that i was given way to many steroid injections in a short amount of time(6 months) friday i went to the dr sick as a dog and he said that i have a bad case of broncittus and the normal treatment for this is albuterol(steroids) but because of all of the steroids i was given i can not have anymore, not even to treat this so i have to suffer through it and he gave me antibiotics and that was it. the new pain dr said to stay with the meds that i am on and put me on lidocaine patches and said to come back in a month but because of all the steroids that i have already been given there is not alot that can be done except maybe some lidocaine injections but that was it for a while. so my questios is can you really have to many steroids? has this happened to anyone else? any help that can be given would really be appreciated. sorry went so long. sharon |

I was also bombarded with steroids in the begining and firmly believe it is why I became a full blown diabetic when I did and why my skin is so thin and easily tears....as well as why I no longer have any veins (need central line whenever I have surgery), so I run like the wind when they mention them!
Also my dh had a blood sugar of 800 the last time he was given an injection and his blood sugar normally stays good! HTH

Wow how many injections did you get in that 6 month period? I got 3 in 3 months. I know they had steroids, but i wasnt told of any long term effects. I was also on oral steroids for pain management. My doc is appaerntly terrified to give out anything strong. So I just take what he gives me. Or not!!!!

I had 3 esi then i was given trigger points every week with a small dosage of steroids in it. on some weeks it would just be a single injection but some would be up to 5. Like Junie said i was totally bombarded with steroids. Now i am off completley and i am on other drugs for pain manegment. thanks.
