I don't see doctor til 29th and I would love to know what my MRI results mean.
There is diffuse bulge of the C5-C6 disc which predominates towards the left. No results of spinal compromise. Exit Forman regions at C5-C6 level remain patent. Impression- mild AP canal narrowing documented at the C5-C6 level due to diffuse disc bulge. No other remarkable findings. What does this mean as far as treatment goes? I am in severe Pain and pt isn't working. |

--it doesn't mean very much; there seems to be little in terms of spinal etiology for whatever symptoms you are having (you could describe those more specifically if you like).
This just says the spongy disk between your fifth and sixth cervical neck vertebrae (spinal bones) has a bulge that goes towards the left, but it does not appear to be either touching the spinal cord, or narrowing the left side foramen--the space through which the nerve roots pass, from their connection to the spine on their way to the other body parts (in this case, shoulder and arm). Almost all of us, by a certain age, show evidence of disc bulging--often at multiple levels--which may or may not compromise the foramen and/or cause symptoms. And, you do not show any signs of disc herniation, which would mean that the material of the disc has extruded from it into the spinal canal or foraminal openings. In all, this is a rather unremarkable report. It is certainly not an indication for surgery, if that is what you are asking as regards treatment. But what are your symptoms? Is it possible they are mostly muscular? |
