Default Doody - you whooooo!!

Hey, Doody .....

Is one of your cats a Maine Coon? On the Our Pets forum there is a question about a Maine Coon cat that has 2 claws on its extra thumbs. (2 claws per thumb) The poster is asking if anyone else has experience with a cat that has double claws.

thanks!

I don't know what Chewie is! An angel from somewhere brought him to me when I needed him and he needed me.

He has tons of toes and yes has double, troublesome claws on a couple of toes. They are, however, quite deformed and cause him trouble. Someday, when I can afford it, I need to take him to a vet about it.

He also has 2 pads on each of his paws, lol.

I don't think he's a Maine coon at all. Just a sweet run-of-the-mill kitty.

Yeah, my daughter named him that night my neighbor saw this tiny creature scamper across her yard.

That afternoon, I discovered my Sammy had gotten out when I left for work and he was killed in the road by a car. I found him, and I was BESIDE MYSELF with the wailing and the sobbing, so much so that my daughter and son-in-law drove to come and spend the night with me, and son-in-law got Sammy and buried him for me.

Anyway, nice summer night, and daughter was trying to comfort me when the neighbor yelled in my window, come see this kitty!

It was Chewie and my daughter finally caught him by enticing him with canned cat food. We were at first stunned at the size of his feet and then figured out he had a bazillion toes. He was so darned cute. And at that point she dubbed him Chewbaca.

I sobbed, I can't take this cat. And my daughter told me, OH YES YOU CAN MOM! She said "You have to mom! An angel sent this kitty because you need him right now and he needs you."

And so I succumbed. Poor little guy, god knows what happened to him. The vet said he wasn't very old, maybe 6 weeks. Covered with fleas, dirty. And his tail was broken in 3 different places and he walked with a limp (still does). I can't remember what the vet said about that.

Anyway, got the little guy all cleaned up, and every night he slept curled up behind my head on my pillow, nuzzling and digging.

And that's the story of the poly Chewie.

Oh, and most polys are only poly on the front paws. It's not common to be poly on all 4 paws.

And thanks for pointing me to the pet forum. Because of Witt's question, I started checking around the internet and discovered what Chewie's paw problem is!

They call it 'horned toes' or horned claws. Whichever, I found the name for the pathetic ugly and strange toe-type-claws that curve around and cause him discomfort on 2 paws.

Doody
That started out as a very sad story..
I'm so sorry you lost your Sammy..I'm sure i would not have reacted any different if that were to happen to any one of my furbabies!!
Yet i think your daughter was right in saying an angel sent chewie to you.
I also believe the momma cat i found last summer was sent to me right when i needed her most!!
We weren't able to keep her..but i still have her babies.
Also i had just put a box out on the front porch 2 days before she delivered them.
Had i not done that. It's anyones guess where these babies might be today!
Since i lost my job my depression just kinda comes and goes...But these little kitties help me ALOT!!
Thanks for sharing your story of how chewie came to be in your life.

Awww ((Kell)), you're welcome.

I'm 57 and I've been through a lot of furbaby losses. I remember them all. I'm still recovering from losing my Sweetie Pie on Mother's Day last year. She was a torti.

They sure can be a nuisance at times, but I don't know what I'd do without them. If it didn't cost so much to have them, I'd probably be one of those cat ladies.

Wish I could have a dog too, though it would probably terrorize the cats. I love my daughter's mini-dach, he's just a hoot. What's really fun about dachsunds is their love of tunnelling. Every night he tunnels under the covers, curls up by your belly and gets SO warm. He's like a heating pad, LOL.

I wonder if you've ever seen Otto.

Here's Otto.

Annie, the feral cat I took in 4 years ago. She was pregnant at the time and very young too.

My Sweetie Pie I lost last May.

My eldest, Tinker.

Because of Chewie's hip/leg problem, he lays like this all the time! LOL

My sweet Chew Chew.

Otto singing with his mommy, LOL

Well, time to take a hot bath, get in bed, and listen to my meditation tapes.

Oh, and these are the cutie pie babies that Annie had. (Daughter holding them.) I found very good homes for them and then had Annie spayed.

Night night.

Annie's babies.
