Jo*Mar - I know what you said is true
"there are sick & evil people out there.
Sometimes you have to cut the ties and stay away from toxic people."

It's heart breaking but it's true.

And dear Wren, it's so absolutely true that for your own sanity, peace of mind, and health, you need to distance yourself from toxic people. As a matter of fact, my very best friend of 46 years is sometimes the person I have to distance myself from. But then, she was diagnosed with Biopolar ( I honestly think she is more Borderline Personality Disorder), and there have been times I have had to distance myself from her for awhile because she can become very toxic. I love her dearly as evidenced by the 46+ years of friendship! (Let me be clear!!! I'm NOT saying that her bipolar is a toxic condition or that she is, but when she goes into rages or becomes totally out of reach to rational discussion for a length of time, I just can't handle it.) Well, I've distanced myself from many people throughout the years and it just sometimes has to be done! ((Wren))

I often think Dr. Laura tells people what they need to hear...obvious things...as Stitches said, don't marry the jerk, divorce the jerk, and on and on. But this time I thought, dang woman!, this caller deserved at least a suggestion to seek help from a counselor or suicide group.

And, I did go to her website and emailed her! Felt good to get it off my chest. Down side of that is you have to join the Dr. Laura club to get her direct email. So I did.

She does seem, though, like the kind of person who would just be PO'd that someone dare suggest she handle a caller differently. And...too bad!!!!

Tongue

That Dr. L is not even a psychologist!!! GAD... people must listen just for the voyeuristic content... to see how or what other people are doing etc?

I consider these "personalities" entertainers. They make big bucks by being outrageous...it is all a game to them.

Glenn Beck and his ilk included in that... esp good old Rush who says the most egregious and irresponsible things!

Let me see, what other sounds would I rather hear? How about a cat barfing?

They are Mrs. D! Purely entertainment. It's just too bad so many people take them seriously.

Never even heard of her... but I am kinda sick of hearing non-professionals pretending to be professional and doing so in a terrible way. Just like Dr. Phil it sounds like she is too blunt and doing more harm than good. And even though I love watching the Tyra Banks show, she is not a therapist and often forgets that!
