Default emotionally spent

A dear Friend took her life yesterday morning. She took a bunch of pills and apparently that didn't work so she shot herself.

She had been depressed and had even said she was suicidal. I took her seriously, We talked and talked and talked and talked........she even came here and read often.

Over the past few weeks she "seemed" to be coming out of the pit. She fooled us all. She made us believe that things were turning around. She was only calling me once or twice a week......she really seemed to be doing well when we went to dinner Saturday night.

She thanked me for being there for her when she needed me the most. We planned our vaction to Honduras in May. She fooled us all.

Now we make funeral arrangements and wonder as survivors always do, WHAT IF?????

Rest in peace my friend......I hope you found what you were looking for.

Hi Jaded,

this is horrible, terrible news. exactly goes to show why i started the thread about why some of us haven't gotten help yet. It's so important to get help before its too late. But that's all part of the "what if?" game now like you said. I hope you are doing okay...................

I'm so sorry to hear about your dear friend Jaded.

Maybe she wasn't trying to fool you or anyone. Maybe she was feeling better, and something just suddenly overwhelmed her and she couldn't fight it off...

Either way, you know you did the best you could to help her, and she obviously appreciated it. It's good that she had such a loving friend.

She fooled us all

Not at all dear Jaded2nite...............

Hear mental health condition fooled only her my friend only her.........

Clinincal depression is very cunning in the way it creeps up on you and develops into one un-holy thunderstom that follows your every step.

but like all storms ....there is a centre...an 'EYE' when this passess over us...we are fooled into believing the light at the end of the tunnel is upon us......all will be well.....great times ahead...i'm better..................sighhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Well thats what i thought the day before my attempted suicide in 1993.......

I know of other people who appeared to be breaking the stom [so to speak....and were dragged back into its clutches].........

Even through natural death many appear healthier and more radiant prior to their passing away.....

I AM SO SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS MY FRIEND [i'm sure your friend was so greatful to have such a supporting friend arround her during her darkest times....

David

please though remember: her condition fooled her...............
she never purposely planned to fool you or others................

Loving, caring thoughts go out to you tonight. I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, but I am glad that she had you there to be with her until her life got to be more than she could bear. You were a gift to her during your friendship. Lisa

(((Dottie))) I'm so sorry to hear about this loss. You did all you could do to be supportive, but in the end...she had the control.

Sometimes the unbearable burden of depression and anxiety blows my mind. It has so much control when it's present in our lives.

((Hugs)) dear friend.

Hello, Jaded: Having attempted to take my own life, I speak from experience -- my own, of course; everybody may differ, but I'll bet not much on the subject you brought up.

NOBODY to my knowledge has ever accurately portrayed what goes on inside the head of somebody seriously considering ending their life. There are the makings of a great drama in that subject. (Dostoevsky gets into it somewhat in "The Possessed"). All sorts of conflicts, all sorts of ambivalence. Yes, there may be deception on their part; if they told you the truth, you might do something "stupid" and call the police and then EVERYTHING for them is ruined; they enter a psycho ward; eat and wear what others dictate; they become prisoners of the entire medical system; they are marked for life. They also don't want you to suffer anguish about letting them say so long and walk on down the street to, well, you know what. I mean, what are you supposed to do, pretend like it just ain't so? They feel regrets, many of them, coulda/woulda/shoulda. Mostly, they feel sadness, their heart aches, and when the moment comes, they may say (as I did): O.K., here we are. Let's get this over with. Determination is the last vow.

I'd say, in the end, to the extent your friend fooled you, she did it in order to fool herself.
