Is Mother Nature paying us back for not looking after Mother Earth well enough???

Anyone tell me how to get 2 inches of water out of the floor of my car that wouldn't cost me money? The windows were up but the deluge was too great for the old seals I guess.

I've been out there in the rain mopping it up the best I can but I can't even leave the doors open or the windows open to let it dry out.

Can all the floor carpet be removed I wonder and dry it out that way?
sheesh, I'm so over it all... this weather. It's been like this for months and it won't let up. I am exhausted.

Could you rent a wet vac? What a mess - that's awful.

Sorry. Had a "freak-out" moment.

I might have to do that Barb, but I think I'm going to have to remove the whole carpet and dry under on the metal although that will be difficult I think. I've spend nearly 3 hrs wringing out water and if I press my fingers in the carpet there's still water there. It's stopped raining for the moment so that's good news now I have a lot of the water out. I've left the windows down and the doors open. Just my luck lately that a cat will go pee in there.

I shall persevere.

Edited to ADD: OMG I shall never complain again. My thoughts go out to the people of Christchurch, New Zealand with their earthquake just happened.

Hang in there - you're doing everything I can think of - hope the critters stay out!

Default drill a hole

I would drill a hole or two from the bottom to get it draining. Maybe 4 holes.

Lara, I'm so sorry to hear about this... I think I would try to pull up the carpets... but I'm not sure how that would work as they would always move around once you got them back in...
and if you don't get all the water out... you'll have rust... sigh

We're reeling from the news about the earth quakes in NZ, too....

I honestly do think our mother earth/nature has been abused so much ... that all of these happenings are bound to occur...
that said, with the media... we hear of so many things that we might not have ever heard about if we didn't have tv....

take care my friend.... thinking of you lots!

I'm hoping Lara got her car dried out by now.... Mr.Alffe took the really early So.Shore into Chicago this morning...called me and said our drive is a sheet of ice and he didn't have time to salt it. It's melted enough now that I got the bird feeders filled...those two blue birds surely spend a lot of time in our birdbath...so glad I have a heater for it.

I've started packing..hoping we only get four inches of new snow instead of the 8 they mentioned. Am so grateful to get out of Indiana this winter and see the sun!!

Doody, you keep talking to your wonderful therapist...talking heals us.

Addy, I also fear that we've ruinned our planet.

Hugs for the room.

Well, this isn't the wonder thread but I'm wondering a few things...like....

Lara, were you able to clean up your car?
Alffeee, did you have a wonderful weekend with your girls (and are there lots of delicious leftovers)?
Doodysis, how's your new bus"y"ness doing?
Ducky... is sis home in your loving embrace?

and I haven't wondered about our Mois for ages... sure miss their presence (presents! ) here! .... and Mistis... Wren... GrammaSue... Scrabble.... Reyn .... Lonely1 and how are you???... aaargh... I could go on and on!

Well, today I'm out the door to work... loving that its only 3 blocks away (we're experiencing a deep freeze and it sure is cold -something we're not used to at all.... )... and happy the sun is shining!

I'm making ends meet again... and looking forward to saving for my next trip with my Chorus (competition in May is in Calgary, Alberta).

I'm reading "A Thousand Splendid Suns" which makes my heart ache... parts of our world are so cruel... and it just seems to be getting worse instead of better....

I'm so thankful to be able to read again (depression demon at bay).... and think I shall next reach for something uplifting...

My love and warm thoughts to you all on this Friday....

What's on my plate...

Literally...Dinner time here so I've got chicken and mushrooms in a tarragon, mustard and cream sauce with potato mash and peas. Actually too hot for that, but I'm a little tired of lettuce.

Addy, thankyou.
It's sort of OK.

Sun shone today and most of yesterday, so I've had the windows and doors open. I usually have to park on the road, but the house where I'm living has been sold and so I've taken the option of parking near my front door which helps when one has balance and vertigo issues. It's a house and a flat/unit on the one property. I'm in the flat. sold. (One day it flooded, two days later a plumber came and went, then two days later a forsale sign went up and a week and a half later it was sold. New owners Monday!!!)

The other days it was raining so I couldn't do anything really... just let it sweat in the 30+C heat. Went out the first morning and the windows were steamed up from the inside. lol

My neighbour offered to help remove the carpets so I could dry everything out, but said it would be a 2 day weekend job removing the trim, the internal console, the seats, then the carpets etc.. and then of course, putting the useless thing back together again like Humpty. lol

I said not to bother, that it was fine. It's their wedding anniversary today and they have recently lost their mum/mum-in-law. I will be fine with the car. In the scheme of things it is insignificant. Totally.

Thinking of you and everyone here. I usually am a very optimistic person in spite of what goes on in my life. I'm not sure I complain often at all really, but for months the flooding and cyclones in my state and then the tragedy in our neighbours country this past week has actually become a little too much to bear.

C'est la vie.

Gosh you've had a lot to bear. Please know that all of us are thinking of you and hoping the grief passes soon. Love, Barb
