Ha ha... I love that name: Badcat! We once called a cat "Matt" because her hair was matted...

Grand-Addy wore me out in a delightful way and I'm excited to see her again tomorrow. I'm a calm (ha!) constant in her life and am so blessed!

Well, I have to confess that I told someone off today... as diplomatically as I could and it sure feels good not to be squirming with self-doubt and second-guessing as a result.

Barbo, I watched a bit of that tennis, too

More pool time here as we are enjoying a lovely September Summer. There was an 6.4 earthquake off the coast of Vancouver Island (some of you remember our ~scrabble ) today - no one was hurt and no tsunami warnings... very lucky.

Alffe - thanks for letting me know how many jars you made with the bushel ... in that other thread...

OK... I think I should go and wash some of my plates....
in the dishwasher... of course

Badcat!!??? If someone named me that I'd do my very best to live up to it.
I'm trying to figure out what to wear this morning for our walk...it's humid but cool, if that makes any sense. Michael...your Dad & I are walking for you.

Hugs for the room.

Heart

I look after my daughter's cat. Her name is Famous. She's so naughty and self-centered. Oh yeah... she's a cat. She's meant to be all of that. She'd be good friends with Badcat.

I've just watched a show on our SBS TV called The Hidden Face of Fear.

I learned more about myself and how the brain works while I was watching that show than I have done in a lifetime. I know a lot of stuff but just seeing it all put together like that was astoundingly profound.

Went to order a couple of books called "The Amygdala: A Functional Analysis", and "The Amygdala: Neurobiological Aspects of Emotion, Memory, and Mental Dysfunction" thinking they would be such incredible reading and I guess they must be as the first one costs $215.13c. and the second approx $125.00. Drat I guess I'll eat and pay my electricity instead. <sigh>

Well done Wren on getting that furniture in. I meant to reply to your post earlier. It stood out in my mind. dear one. I'm sorry that's it's taking so long to get there though it'll be just wonderful for you when it arrives.

Thinking of you all during these turbulent times.

Default Hey laura!!

Laura -- why on earth are you ordering books like that? What's your interest in the Amygdala? May I ask why? Where did you find the books?
I think that's the scariest word in the English language.

Good Morning.

Wren, I'm not ordering them because they're too expensive. I'm interested in reading the books because that particular part of the brain has been suspected to play a role in autism and in tic disorders, ocd, depression, anxiety. It's part of what is called 'the limbic system" and the tv show I watched talked about the amygdala's role in memory and consequently how we respond to trauma or fear. All of these things affect me and my family so it's something that I tend to read up on... I'm of the belief that knowledge is power... not always but mostly.

Thanks Lara ..... I don't have an Amygdala on the left side........ I had surgery on my left temporal lobe to remove a tumor (oligodendroglioma) 14 Feb., 2006 ... and May, 2007, a second surgery which removed the hippocampus and amygdala.....
Before and after both surgerys I had extensive neuropsych testing and "they" all say I'm OK. Still scary.
This was all diagnosed 28 July 2005 ... very scary time

I remember, wren.

Edited to add: I didn't know the exact details, wren.
I'm sorry if my post about my interest in the mind and brain seemed somehow insensitive to you.
Definitely wasn't meant to be that.
The books were related to the TV show that I mentioned I had just watched called "The Hidden Face of Fear".

Lara can you link that show...I'd love to learn more about it.

Got my haircut this afternoon and looking forward to a visit from my sil.

Cassie is still trying to adjust to the new labs next door...they come up to the fence and wag their tails while she barks furiously at them.

I wonder who here remembers "katey"...I know you do ducky. breaks my heart that she's on her way.
