I attended the funeral of a long time friend on Saturday. She was a nurse and was waiting for a liver transplant. as long as she took her meds she could survive indefinately she decided, knowing this would kill her, to stop taking her meds. she left her husband, quit her job, cut off all relations with everybody, and within a week toxins built up in her system and killed her. NOT for sure how i feel about this.

I am sorry for the loss of your friend. Sometimes people don't want to live being sick. My dad did the same thing. Stopped all but palitive care for pain and passed away. It was his choice, just like it was your friends choice.
She being a nurse maybe knew what was in store for herself, and just didn't want to go out that way. I know it hurts to loose a friend. ginnie ![]() ![]() |

Making care choices is such a burden on the person receiving "all of the attention" most especially if quality of life is not there for them.
A longtime dear friend of mine had endured diabetes a LONG time, lost sight to blindness, and had to endure dialysis on a more progressive schedule over time. He was informed he would need to be in dialysis ever more frequently, the last being he would have to do it daily. It was more than he could bear or put his family through, and, although he did not withdraw and family and friends were all surrounding him, he did select No More Dialysis. Decision was his. The result was......his funeral. Seeing him go was not easy. Knowing he would have endured dialysis every day was even less thinkable. We understood. Thus, I pray understanding may help all of you affected by your Friend's passing through those stages of grief. HUGZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZz ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I'm ok with her decision..... well, sort of. i understand her decision, she wasn't in a lot of pain, not that that under plays the pain she was in, and she was able to work, which she loved. i don't know. i really haven't come to grips with it yet. she was 3 years younger than me. i just dont know how i feel about this.

So sorry to hear of your loss. I can't imagine what your going through. I have two family members that ended their lives. I still to this day wonder what I could have done to help prevent their untimely deaths. It is so hard sometimes to understand what they may be going through that would cause them to make the decision they did. Emotionally they were not of clear mind, just want the pain to end. I truly sorry for your loss my dear. You will be in our thoughts and prayers.
