Thanks guys for all the feedback and suggestions.
So basically it is from anxiety/social anxiety? I was thinking maybe it was something more, but you never know. I will be sure to mention this to my therapist when I go next week. And Lara, You made a good point about post concussion syndrome worsening/causing these feelings. I wonder, should I still be seeing someone who treats concussions? I have not been to an Neurologist for months now, because I thought it was not concussion related. It definitely seems related because it caused my depersonalization to be permanent, and it has been here all this time. |

It's hard to say Sam. I'm no expert on PCS or Anxiety although I have experienced both myself.
If this *is* anxiety related though, you need to not think of this as permanent. It can be treated/helped and a lot of that is a learning process. I doubt at this time that a Neurologist would be worth seeing again but I'm not really in a position to tell. This appointment you have coming up with the therapist is the right move as I see it at this time. You said earlier they have experience with PCS so they will know more about what is going on after you have seen them, and I'm sure that if they felt that this wasn't part of PCS and that you needed further assessment with your Neurologist (or another specialist) for some reason then they will tell you and your parents. take care there. |

Hi Sam,
I know you have touched on the topic before, but how would you feel now if these issues turn out to have a mental root cause? Dave.

It's been so long since I felt normal again. It bothers me so much how I KNOW I have a problem because I feel horrible, but no one knows what it is. |

Oops, I completly forget about that video!
Just watched it. I've learned about the theory how exercise could actually help in concussion recovery around the time I first got mine. I tried it, and saw some results but overall just made me worse. I had a physical trainer at one point that I would see every other day, but it just killed me with symptoms. I also wanted to tell you guys how I have a vitamin D deficiency, and I was wondering... could that actually be the cause of my symptoms, or part of it? I've had it for years, and in the thyroid tests it showed up again. I believe the healthy reference range was around 30-100 and I'm at 20. My doctor would like to see me at 70. I mean, I've had these unreal/depersonalization symptoms before, with the concussion maybe my body could not handle the concussion, stress/anxiety, and this deficiency at once causing me to shut down? I've heard that Vitamin D deficiency actually makes depression worse. I don't know. I'm taking the supplements and it will take a while before the level goes back up. |

I thought you were seeing a neurologist… you definitely should see one as part of your treatment. A neuro can help treat you if you have PCS, or rule it out.
It's very important to restore your Vitamin D to normal levels. Vitamin D is important to healthy brain/cognitive function, among other things. It's a good idea to have your doc to monitor your level in the beginning because too much Vitamin D is not a good thing either. I recognize the feeling you experience in the restaurant, too. I have a lot of difficulty with anxiety. What you're describing would sometimes precede an anxiety attack for me. |

My doc told me to take 4000 a day. I feel like I should be taking more because mine is pretty low. And I'm no longer seeing a neurologist because there was nothing he could do for me, he just told me talking to someone would help. |
