Yesterday I catch Geneva eating pebbles. She's got a heart of gold and loves us very much, but I guess she really is dumb as a box of rocks. This has happened before, and we had to feed her Cheerios added to her food to help pass them through her system.
It's not really her fault, though, it's my stupid husband's fault. He likes to cook me fast food on the grill - some of the juices spill onto the rocks and make them smell like BACON! AHA! Who's the stupid one? I wake up at 1 AM to the sound of "harumph." I ignore it, but it keeps getting louder "HARUMPH!" I didn't want her to poop in the house, so I let her out. I stayed up for an hour or so reading about Angelina Jolie's pets and how smokin' hot Penelope Cruz is these days. Geneva tells me "NO WAY am I coming in yet," so I let her camp out for the night - hoping it won't rain. 4 AM CODE BLUE! A LOUD clap of lightning strikes. GENEVA!!! Nurse Casey races to the door to retrieve our patient. Dr. Ray races around the house gathering plenty of rags, and he quickly goes to work. "Nurse Casey, make up the bed STAT and make sure it's warm and fluffy!" Casey rushes over to the supply closet and retrieves the fluffiest blanket she can find. No time to spare, she rushes back into the wet kitchen to get to the bedroom. Casey slides in for a home run, and falls flat on her *** - but the blanket was dry. "Good LORD, Nurse Casey! Is it always fun and games with you?" It's still raining cats and dogs here. Dr. Ray and his patient are now sleeping soundly together. All is well. P.S. - I think she just wanted some Cheerios. My tailbone hurts - good thing I don't have one. |

Geneva sounds like she's afraid of thunder too! There is no sleeping when you own a dog like that! Cooper tries to get into the dark closet but wants us to come too. Did you mop the floor while down there?

Yes Maaa'm - with my shiny new knight-gown! Wouldn't want my knight in shining metal to slip on anything.
Yeah, it terrifies her - even a small rumble of thunder from a distance will make her try to climb onto my lap and/or wedge in between us in bed. I usually wake up with Ray's arm around me. The other morning I woke up, feeling fine, then realized Ray's arm had gotten VERY hairy. It was Geneva snoring in my ear. I guess there were some storms nearby as I slept. |

Lordy, you make me laugh. I can see perfectly the events of the evening. How in the world does Geneva fit onto your lap? She is one of the hugest dogs I've ever seen in my life. I wish you'd post a picture of her like that one I saw so long ago with you and her. So people would believe me when I say she's huge. LOL what? Do you have like a double double king size bed???????

Thanks for sharing your knight with us dear KathyM!
I have company from Peurta Vallarta - which includes a chiwwowwah (LOL... I love the way Alfee spells when she can't think of the spelling... and I'm stealing the idea!)... anyway... I have been waking up with a siamese, a mixture cat and a chiwowwah cuddled into all my curves! They fight and hiss in the day... gather round me at night... Cats are nocturnal (I think I spelt that correctly... spelling police you here? and last night we woke to a horrible crash (nope, not thunder!) but a huge leaning mirror that had fallen from the top of my tall dresser thanks to the catfight! LOL re: the hair arm KathyM... doncha just love it! One way or another, we are all blessed with the warmth of another living creature. I agree with Doody and would love to see a photo! xo Addy (who is glad no one got hurt and hope that the rocks come out soon *pwhew!) |

Only her top half fits on my lap - then she rests her head on my shoulder and gives me a hug - trying to get a third leg up. I'm a dummy when it comes to posting pics. I PM'd a photo album of me and Geneva as a pup. Yeah, yeah, I know I'm no longer a pup. She's 7 years old now, but our little baby has developed a thyroid disorder - so she's HUGE, and constantly ravenous. She weighs 140 lbs. If I don't add a handful of Cheerios to her standard dog food, the big dummy eats rocks. And, NO, she's not just like her mother. She's my little Chicago Bear. Addy I think I own your cousin. I bet their family motto is "Love me or I'll kick your butt!" I have a Bermese cat who thinks she's a cougar. I call her my own little Cato (Pink Panther) because she stalks me. It's a game we've played since she was a kitten. Fortunately, her front claws were accidentally removed when we had her spayed - so she can slap me around all she likes. She really packs a punch with those little cotton balls. She's the opposite during thunderstorms. She likes it when the window is open and she can get her face right up to the screen. The little trooper holds her ground and tries to fight the thunderstorms. However, if Ray starts up the vacuum - she runs to my bed and hides under my covers for shelter. |

sooooo...you're saying that your dog eat pebbles, it'll rain cats and dogs??
Wow!! When my neighbor's dog eats pebbles, he would poop out Fred and Wilma Flintstones... (* the vitamins are NOT as chewable as the bottle said it would...but Fred would then look like Barney and Wilma, the Kazoo) I hate to tell you what happens when I eat pebbles...I MOVE MOUNTAINS!! (hallelujah chorus playing in the background) |
