Addy you sound a lot happier these days! I think giving up that job was really good for you.

We had to go to a recognition dinner last night at our Historical Society...their annual big fund raiser..we were some of the guests of a dear friend who'd "bought" a table again this year. The problem was that he's back in the hospital, not well enough to attend so we went in to visit w/him on our way to the dinner. The resilience of the human spirit is so present in this man....his determination to resume a normal life (something all of us doubting Thomases question) that it's humbling to be with him.

I'm not going to cann one dang thing today...

I just got home from daughter's house. They went to KC to visit their friends.

When I got home the postman had a package for me from Alffe! Thank you! And yes, the pieces taste JUST as good as if it had arrived in one big perfect piece! You're too sweet! YUMMY! SNACKS!!!!!!

Good on you Alffe. I'm doing NOTHING today as well. Just taking it easy and just might take a nap.

Oh goofy...all of that sounds wonderful...made me so hungry! Sorry about your tummy.

I've had quite a day....much to be thankful for.

A small dog ran into the yard this morning to a joyful Cooper and he/she raced each other around and around the barn until the small dog ran into the road and was hit by a car! the driver was horrified, pulled over and the car right behind him pulled over (two police jumped out) The woman cop ran over and scooped up the dog and they all came into the yard. I said it's not my dog...I don't know who's dog it is. She carried it into our garage while I went for a bowl of water and a leash. The other policeman called animal control while the driver just kept apoligizing. About that time here came an old woman (older then me) in her nightgown and robe, walking down the road, shuffling into the drive calling for her dog..."Rascal" Rascal. She said she lived on the corner of the next block and he got away from her...I offered to drive her home while she cradled the dog in her arms..tears streaming down both our cheeks...no, she said and shuffled off with her dog.
I looked at those policemen who had to look away before I saw their tears.

I think he had a broken front leg.

I came into the house and the phone rang. Friends of ours from church...her voice breaking when I said how are you? She said the house that exploded last night was right next to theirs and that they are now homeless..inspectors will not even let them go in for their medicines..said it isn't safe. They have the clothes on their backs, their lives and their little dog who lived thru it all.

She said, Lynn, we are so thankful to be alive.

I just have to shake my head sometimes, and sometimes my heart just hurts.

Oh (((Alffe))). What a sad day for so many people. I'm so sorry for all involved.

That poor little dog. Your friends. The police officer.

I'm shaking my head and hurting with you dear lady.

Oh dear. All the terrible things happened in one day to people you know... and the poor wee doggie. Do you think the dog will survive?

I saw an exploded house on the tv news from US. What a shocking thing to happen. Saw some other exploded block of apartments down in Florida. Just awful.

Alffe, I'm also so sorry that your friend couldn't go to the dinner last night but it's great you were able to go visit.

Sorry I've not been able to catch up much lately and probably not too often in the near future. Got a few things happening here taking up my time and energy. Will hopefully get some nice pics this afternoon though so I'll in the photo place when I can do that. Need to find some cable to get them from the camera to the puter then though. Someone else has it "somewhere".

Moi - My condolences on the loss of your friends.

Goofy - I'm glad to see you're feeling better after the surgery.

Addy - You sound happy. That makes me happy.

Alffe - Poor little Rascal. I used to have a big female German Shepherd. About once a week, a little Yorkshire Terrier (Buddy) would show up at our house. He crossed a lot of busy streets to get to our house. The two of them would play in my backyard while I called the owner to come pick him up. One time my dog was in heat. Being so small, he had no access to her - except when she laid down. Even then, it was impossible for him to "climb aboard." She'd give him a look like "you've GOT to be kidding" - then push him away with her nose.

A friend of ours lost his wife recently. They had been college sweethearts and married for close to 60 years. We met at the park several years ago, walking our dogs. Peggy suffered from diabetes, so she sat in the car. Sometimes I'd sit with her, sometimes I'd walk with the guys. After the walk, the dogs would all gather at the car window - Peggy would give each one a dog biscuit. It was a cute site - her car looked like an ice cream truck, and the dogs looked like anxious little kids.

Gus lost it when Peggy died. When Ray went to the funeral, Gus said to him "I feel like I should know you." That hurt Ray because they are close friends. He calls Ray whenever he needs something. When Ray hurt his back shoveling a few years ago, I caught that old man out front trying to shovel for us.

We went to the park last night and Gus showed up for the first time with his dog and a woman his kids hired to keep an eye on him. He remembered me, then had no trouble remembering Ray!
