Three bushels of tomatoes! I no sooner walked in the house from our trip than the phone rang and it was Mr. Vite saying that the tomatoes I'd ordered were ready....come pick them up!
I did...ball jars and strainer are in the dishwasher and after church tomorrow, I'll be making tomatoe juice for the rest of my life. We loved 3 mo' Tenors.....they were incredible...did opera, soul, blues, gospel.. Glad to be home....hugs for the room. What's on your plate?

Welcome Home Alffe!!!! I'm glad you guys enjoyed your trip!!!!!!
I've been shredding my FILS junk mail most of the day... Rick and I went over ther the other night and brought home 2 big paper sacks full of begging letters and sweepstakes stuff Hes on EVERYBODIES list as he gets suckered into sending 5 bucks here and 10 bucks there, then they sell his name to all the ohters. It really makes me angry that they target the older people..... ANYWAY my BIL is coming for a visit next week. He called this evening and hes in Colorado right now. He'll be here late tomorrow. He'll stay with my FIL but eat over here LOL..... |

Welcome back! I'm glad you had such a good time. My visit with you and Mr. Alffe is still pleasantly fresh in my mind.
I had a wonderful time with daughter and granddoody this weekend. It is SO nice to finally hear him call me gramma, loud and clear.

Ok...UNCLE said my back. 21 jars and barely made a dent in it! Don't you just love the little click the jar lids make while they are cooling? (it's takes very little to tickle me these days!)
Tomorrow is another day (that never made sense to me when my tired mother used to say it..*grin) I also need to get thank you's in the mail, and someones bathing suit! Which reminds me....bet the hot tub would feel real good on this back of mine. Goofy I'm afraid you are overdoing it..... BJ....just sending hugs along with some prayers. Doody...it's been too long since you posted pictures of that little man!!

(((goofy))) You don't swim either? I dog paddle.
Finally finished the tomato juice and found a lovely sounding recipe for canning green beans...with rosemary and lemon peel. Only made three jars of that. And....drum roll............ I tried to pickle some red chard! With garlic and hot pepper flakes. We shall see in six weeks what we have done. I also wrote to Bon Appetit Mag. and begged them to get the corn soup recipe from Bouchon Bakery. Off now to the post office to mail some stuff....it's impossible to mail flatbread without breaking it!! I keep telling myself...so what?? You break it to eat it.....~sigh Very interesting article in this mornings paper about the elderly being at the highest risk for suicide. Will post it later.

alffe, does your local news paper have a food section? you might be able to email the editor of that section and have them get the recipe.

tis good to see your post, goofy. I wonder if you were taking care of yourself? LOL
It warms my heart to see Doody and Alpho/Doody and Kathy/Doody and Matthew McConaughey (oh wait, this one is only in Doody's drooling dreams...LOL) meeting up and having fun. it is good to see everyone's name, really...I've been really sucky at keeping in touch lately... we've had two friends that passed away in the past 6 weeks and I've been feeling really guilty for not being in touch with them before they passed...one of them lived only 5 blocks away...*BIGSIGH... my gosh, how do I let myself get into this whirlwind and get sucked into "Life" and forgotten about "LIFE??" what's on my plate today and for the rest of this week is to try and catch up with my friends...I did lunch with one of my buddies I haven't seen in months and today I am going to see another friend who was also my boss who is suffering from Macular Degeneration and then, I am going to try and catch up with my online friends that mean so much to me and try to deliever what I've promised to do... So, that's on my plate today and the next few days and hopefully will keep up with it... am thinking of you all... moi moi |

My plate is full listing on eBay. Curious, I saw you mention you were selling - PM me (or message here) if you ever have any questions or whatever... I am in the process of building up a stay-at-home business. I have a wealth of ebay knowledge because I worked for 3 years in their customer support office (nightmare job that brought me out of depression remission and into the depth of hell because of the verbal abuse - another story for another day; I quit in May and have been off work since).
I'm real busy singing my heart out practising Chorus music - we are off to INternational Convention in October (which happens to be in Canada this year - Calgary - so cheap for us Canadians - and OMG... and our Canadian dollar is almost at PAR - the first time in 31 years! Not good news for the US but happy for some Canadians depending on your livelihood.) Life is good - I'm fatter than I've ever been in my life - and despite my good intentions, I lose my momentum and the day flies by.... Moi, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your friends. Each time this happens, we reflect and have a lot of coulda shoulda woulda thoughts ... don't beat yourself up buddy... just live every day a little bit for them ... we add all those bits of who we have lost and turn them into our reasons for living. I'm always sooooooooo happy when I see you and the Mrs. here Alffee, I'm proud of you - all that canning!!! I've had corn soup served in a bread bowl - to die for delicious! I hope you find the recipe you are looking for! Doody - we're all waiting for those photos... oh, wait, I haven't checked the other threads... maybe they are there?!! Goofy - how's the kids these days? You are such a busy mom! I love hearing that you sing for the seniors - they must love you to pieces! Glad you are on the mend and I'll join you under that umbrella - the rain is here in BC, too. Scrabble gets it first on her Island... she keeps some of it and blows the rest over to the mainland! grrrr We Canucks call this the WetCoast! xo for now... back to work for me ... oh... I AM at work |
