Default ticked off

Boy, is this gonna be a deviation from the norm here...

I'm PO'ed...

First off, Michigan lost. Again. Enough said.

Second... I work for the government. I'm a civil servant. You guys probably have figured this out because I obviously work for NASA. It's a cool job and I took it 3 years ago because we're beyond the necessity to make increasingly more money. It's good pay, but a step down from what I was making $ wise. Some times a fun job is more important than $$$. Plus, the 4 years I spent in the army goes to retirement. Plus - next year my wife will make more than me base pay. It's time that happens. It's been my burden for 22 years.

The reason for ranting - I get 4 weeks vacation a year. I have 18 days left this year of vacation and its "use or lose". I can only carry 6 weeks over a year, which I carried over last year. I have never lost vacation before, but it is apparent I'm going to lose some this year (re: previous post about shuttle).

Ok, I whined. This is pretty stupid. I'm whining because I work alot. On an MS board. Go figure. People - I'm very fortunate. My legs don't work right, but I can walk from the parking lot to the mission control power plant to the mission control center to my office and nobody knows. I can walk 3 miles in the utility tunnel system and nobody knows. I've had MS for 22 years. I'm very fortunate. I work on shuttle missions and nobody knows I have MS. Life is technically very very good.

Time to shut up. I'm still ticked off Michigan lost... Stupid team...

Oh - I went to the University of Michigan 1976-1980. I figured an explanation was in order.

Hey, moan away. you've done so well to keep the monster hidden.

I have no words of wisdom. Just support. and envy that you work for nasa which sounds so cool even if it's not. I work with demented old people which is very uncool and keep dropping sterile stuff and try to hide things also. I wish I could work more. I miss the money and the contact with people.
Halved my salary moving around the world. Often wish I'd never left the country.

Oh dear, I might be making this a bit of a moan trend thread. sorry, don't mean to.

As an aside, how much did it cost NASA to crash two craft on the moon? Did any cheese fly off in the chunks of debris?

And as an addition, is it true that you americans generally only have two weeks holiday a year?

In America- the better the job the better the pay and better the vacation. As a teacher I never got the big bucks but only worked 180 days a year. I loved snow days, although we made snow days up at the end of year before our 10 week vacation besides the other vacations, it was nice having a surprise sit at home (too snowy and dangerous to go out), drink tea, make cookies day! I loved being a teacher anyway and we deserved the days off. It's an intense job when done correctly. Not great pay but vacation compensation.
Tom, you worked hard and honed your skills to be where you are (made good decisions, no doubt) and you know obviously you're lucky to have what you have.
America - land of opportunity, huge discrepancies, it all depends on many factors.

Exactly. That's it in a nutshell.

B****, B****, B****, that's all you do..

You need to answer our important questions, like Pud's, above and is there ice on mars...Oh, and about that big fart in space.. .. Inquiring minds need to know!!!

So sorry about Michigan.. The only time I enjoy seeing them lose, is when they play Ohio State..

I'm not saying a WORD about Michigan losing - didn't even see that.

But it seems to me - I mean, you do the math - that there are still enough weeks left this year for you to take your vaction time. So start packing.

I took over 6 weeks myself, (not like I work or something) but once you get the hang of it, it's almost fun.

I'm glad you're up to working that much, sweetie. But even so, you've earned a break.

**Earned** I said.

There are only two times I want Michigan to lose; when they play the Hawkeyes and when when they play the Buckeyes. They can win all the other games they want to.

I think that is very reasonable and fair.

I know the feeling --- -- those Hawkeyes beat Penn State too! bah-humbug!!! You're doing really great with the course of your MS!! 22 years and you're still walking without spilling the beans?!?! Nineteen years diagnosed here and have to use a "chair" all the time. It sure hits each of us differently!

Like what was said before......isn't there still time this year to use up at least some of your vacation time? Doesn't it seem like government jobs have better benefits, including more vacation time? The best I ever had was working for city government -- any excuse for a vacation day!!!

Another question, why is it so important to know if there's water on the moon? There's no air to breathe so that makes living there an impossibility. Or am I missing something????
