Does anyone else get swelling in the shot area? pink? its not painful, but its quite sore.
Yep, that's exactly what Jim and I had minus the fever because we premedicated and took Ibuprofin after. Ours hurt for about 2 weeks. The fever shouldn't be there days after though so calling the doctor is a good choice.

My dad had the H1N1 vaccine last week (his job insisted everyone get it, or be fired...dad's a nurse anesthetist)

His shoulder has hurt so bad that he's had trouble sleeping the past few days. He had a fever for a few days after the shot. I've been worried about how much pain his arm and shoulder have had. It's kept him awake at night to the point that he's been walking around the house at night because of how uncomfortable he's been feeling. I think he slept on his favorite napping couch saturday night, he tried to sleep there sunday night, but told me that he didnt sleep at all because of the pain.

Monday night, I think he finally got some sleep after I told him to raise the head of his adjustable bed to relieve pressure on the sore shoulder, but it was probably only a couple of hours. I didnt hear him wandering around upstairs, and I didnt hear him come out into the living room to sleep on the couch, so I'm hoping he got some sleep last night. I know my mom slept on her chair in front of the tv so that she wouldnt wake him up when she went to bed.

It really worried me the other day when he told me how sore his left arm was. He's got a heart problem, and my mind immediately thought...pain in the left arm?? Is it cardiac? But then he showed me how red the injection site was. It looked worse than my copaxone shots did. Worse than the bee sting my mom got 30yrs ago when we found out she's allergic to bees.

That's another reason I'm not getting the H1N1 vaccine, I dont want to experience the kind of pain my dad's been in all weekend. (other reason is that I think I'm sensitive to vaccines because of the MS and dont want to poke needles at my already wacky immune system anymore)

I think it is advisable to keep a receipt of the vaccination (proof)
and date. Where it was given, and which brand. Good idea to know what you got!

Log in a journal all side effects, what date they occurred and how
long they lasted.

In the event of a class action suit, or further information about injury, this will help you make a claim if it should come to that.
Be prepared. Most vaccination injuries continue or happen weeks or many months after the injection.

It might be possible for long term injury to measure squalene antibodies like in the Gulf War syndrome recipients. Notice that nondeployed members of the military who received the Anthrax vaccine, also came down with Gulf War Syndrome. Gary Null has videos on YouTube made during the NY vaccine committee where he discusses too...it is pretty horrific.

Quote:
Since the 1980s, squalene has also been studied by the DoD and the National Institutes of Health as an adjuvant to boost the efficacy of certain vaccines. However, because animal studies have shown that squalene adjuvants may generate unwanted side effects, including autoimmune versions of arthritis, multiple sclerosis and other conditions, the FDA has never approved the general use of any vaccine containing squalene in the United States.
Except for the H1N1 flu vaccine, of course, which was fast tracked by the FDA.

Squalene (MP59) is a part of our bodies. It is a fatty acid.
When injected the body makes antibodies to it, and then attacks the body itself (autoimmune reactions).

The neuro wanted to see me. my temp was 99.1 I am normally a low degree girl. he checked the site and said it was an "inflammatory response" said he sees it now and again in MS patients, and its just my body over reacting to the stuff in the vaccine. told me to take some advil and rest with plenty of water, and I would be just fine. He said it was not cellulitis from the shot, but a reaction to the stuff in the shot. whether its stabilizers or additives he doesnt know, but said he wouldnt let that stop me from another shot next year. I told him to stay away from me! If this is what the flu shot is, I will take my chances with the flu!

I am achy, sore, and my arm feels like someone slugged me. I got a new computer today, and have been so foggy headed I am not able to get this thing going. Tomorrow is another day, for today I am out of spoons.

Thanks for the support.

I love new computers... I put a new iMac on my Christmas wish list (and it'll stay a wish...Santa isnt any good at granting new computer wishes.) I'll take a Mac Mini if Santa cant fit a 27inch iMac in his sleigh.

All of this sounds awful for you Dej. I don't know what to say. I've never had an issue with a vaccine. It's a murky pool of unknowns as usual.
Get well soon.

Followed your advice for me and my DD when we got our H1N1 shot yesterday and it worked. Very little soreness yesterday, none this morning. Thanks!!! Hopefully it will not hurt later.

Dejibo - how are you feeling today?

I gave up and went to bed last night. I slept for 12 hours. Here i have this wonderful new toy and simply couldnt go further to set it up. the living room is scattered with boxes, and cables, and the cats had a playland for the night.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...3147036&Tpk=HP Pavilion Elite e9240f

I got a wonderful toy! I had a bit of money saved, and was ready to settle for less than I wanted, but the DH kicked in and doubled my holdings! Please know I did NOT pay that price for the machine. I got a MUCH better deal, and I also got a new HD monitor, and printer with it. I got loads of free software, and goodies. I am the queen of the good deal. I have had my old computer for a loooong time. it was upgraded from windows 95 to 98 to XP. it was slow, clunky and crashed alot. I am thrilled to bits to have a new toy.

Back to the flu shot. my arm is less swollen this morn. my fever is just a touch above normal for me, and I feel wrung out, but better than I did. I promise to NEVER get another one! nuh uh! not happening! the MD was upset that I refused more. Was quite pushy about how the immune compromised really NEED this shot! I told him to "get away from me" He told my husband that the fever was making me grouchy. DUH! I am on the road to feeling better tho. thanks for the hugs.

I found a blog today, which included information I was not aware of, so I want to correct my post from yesterday.

The vaccine industry, had Congress pass a recent law, just before the swine flu issue became public. According to this law,
no one can sue the makers, or givers of vaccines. They cleverly got themselves exempted! This is not true for children and Autism however, as that Federal agency for financial assistance to damaged children is still in effect. This agency provides financial assistance to proven injuries to help pay for the huge medical expenses incurred by families.

I would still keep the journal however, one never knows if Congress will rescind the law. Things and times change.

But given that there is no recourse today, should make everyone more careful about accepting a vaccine until you learn the pros and cons first to your satisfaction. A journal may help future medical testing and intervention, should a reaction occur.

I swear that I heard that if you give your children Tylenol after a shot, the vaccine is less effective. IDK but I am certain that is what I heard on the national news a few weeks ago.
