I have received a flu shot every year for the past several years and have experienced no problems other than a slightly sore arm. I plan on getting H1N1 next week if they do not run out. Clinics are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. I am not on any immune suppressing drugs at this time.

I don't even get the rabies for our 23 yr old. She is really OLD.

The young 9 yr old, goes outside... so I always get the rabies for her (our city requires it) ...but the older two do not wander, and the older one doesn't go out except to get her catnip fix, in summer. UpNorth they all go out, but the oldest just sits in the sun by the door.

I had the polio shot when I was about 8yrs. old. I had hives from the 2nd and 3rd boosters. I am now allergic to penicillin (they said back then it had penicillin in it.) I also have arthritis, and I wonder if that is all due to that polio series. Some of the articles on that vaccine say, that it had "cancer" cells in it, and monkey kidney cells, etc. Michigan was one of the first states to get that vaccine back then. I wonder if my oldest cat limps because of the vaccine shots in the leg they give now? I wonder if the vaccine itself has made her lame?

When Tippy had her two reactions, both times she started screaming and pawing her face..and running around, drooling. The second one, most recently she started non stop vomiting, and more screaming. It was awful to watch. It is only minutes to our Vet, and so it was a quick return to go back.

I only get the rabies for Oreo...and that is every 3 yrs. One vet we used ( a special cat vet) wanted to give it every year (to make money). I couldn't find any other vet by phone who gave rabies every year! I left that vet needless to say. So I am very leary of vaccines for my pets now.
It is a big money maker for Vets to give vaccines!

agreed! I was upset to think my cat was that sick, and they wanted to do it again! claiming benedryl would make it ok. I have been premedicated with benedryl for meds and it isnt fun. I simply didnt see the need on an indoor kitty who never goes further than a sunny window. I refused it for ALL the members of the house, and changed vets. The 22 year old will never have to be put in another carrier. I have a vet who would come to the house should I wish it. I love my animals too much to put them thru what happened a couple of years ago after that routine vaccination.

I have zero intentions of ever getting another flu shot. I have already had the H1N1 flu, so I dont believe I need a vaccine against something I should now have a natural immunity to. its bad enough I have to poke myself everyday with Copaxone! I am a less is better kinda girl, and hate taking any meds, pills, creams or preps. Figures I would get the disease that requires a daily shot.

Since I dont work in the public and I dont have school age kids, and I dont have any chance of getting pregnant, and have already had that flu, I just dont see the need. Barb who works in schools and have kids all day, I would seriously consider it if I was in her shoes, but not for someone who rides the couch.

The swelling finally went down in my arm. the whole upper arm was swollen and tender and pink. my lymph glands were swollen in my arm pit as well. What ever was in that thing, my body didnt like it.
