It's the lead story on our news as well.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who've been killed, with those who have been injured, and with those families still waiting to hear from their loved ones within the compound.

They're saying the shooters (yes, more than one shooter!) were U.S. Army soldiers. What the heck? Our soldiers arent supposed to shoot other members of their own military!

I've heard two theories on the shooting, one that it was organized by more than one person and that it might have been motivated by religious terrorism...(I'm actually doubting that theory more than I thought I would)

the other theory is that it was more than one soldier who were all under stress and were about to be deployed and didnt want to go and they went postal. (think that's probably the more likely theory) Like maybe it was PTSD related?

It's just scary that our soldiers could be killed on their own military base, thousands of miles from any war. Hopefully the death toll doesnt go up.

One of my cousins was stationed at Ft Hood in the 90's, I'm really glad that cousin is no longer in the military. (all of my family members that were in the military are all retired or honorably discharged...I can relax and not worry about them as much now)

edited to add: the theory about it being a PTSD related incident is looking more likely...some senator or congressman on Fox News just said the two other suspects have been released...

The major was due for a promotion, too apparently. He was a psychiatric doctor specializing in PTS type disorders??!! He used two hand guns in arguably, one of the 'safest places in the world'. Not sure about the other two. Apparently the story on them is unfolding.

What a senseless, stupid, shocking tragedy. My thoughts and prayers are with our soldiers and their families. This is going to be hard to process and they're already under such extreme stress....

I'm hoping this was just a random person going postal and that his name just coincidentally happens to be what it is and has nothing to do with terrorism/religious violence. (not posting his name because I dont like glorifying spree shooters. We dont say the name of the guy who shot up the mall here in Omaha several years ago for just this reason. We try not to give him any recognition at all)

I just heard the cousin of this guy talking on Fox News. He says his cousin was being harassed by other soldiers. (that's interesting...if the harassment was bad enough, that can cause PTSD, just like being in a warzone can. I was harassed and stalked when I was younger, and can kind of sympathize...well, maybe empathize more than sympathize with the stress of being harassed)

Fox News just confirmed that the other two suspects that were taken in for questioning have been released. This is sounding more like a random spree shooting than anything organized. Spree killers can actually be very organized and plan their attacks, so they dont always just "snap". I read a lot about spree shootings...something about the psychology of what makes a spree killer interests me for some reason. Not sure why.

Erin, I know you are not using "Postal" in a mean way, but we do have postal workers visiting here and they could take offence..
