Default Wild bird loose in my house!

So I heard this thump on my front window and went to investigate. Usually I get there just in time to see a bird flying away.

But this time there was a lil bitty birdy lying on its back in my porch chair. So I brought him inside. He was stunned for quite sometime and I held him loosely in my hand.

Just about the time I thought I would let him go, he took off and flew around in my big room with the vaulted ceiling. We just about had him in hand, but then he flew off again! Now we can't find him!

He tweeted once and we think he's on top of the entertainment center. Its really tall and we tried to locate him with a mirror, but no luck so far.

Suggestions? "Here birdie birdie," hasn't worked so far.

Open door (yes, I know it's cold, but.....)With 5 cats bringing birds to me I've done this. If you need, I found a wicker wastepaper shielded my hair, but let me see enough. one thi I used albums but they aren't around. Try a kitchen dishcloth to flap. Good luck!! I find chipmunks harder (no, mine never sing).

kicker, your kitchen dishtowel idea was brilliant! I found him and cornered him in the kitchen window.

I took him out on the front porch and tried to perch him on my birdfeeder, but he took off without even saying "Thanks!"

And just in the nick of time, too! I had an uneasy feeling that his family was making plans to bombard my car if I didn't release him soon.

Tkrik is taking a road trip up to your house. There is never a dull moment on Twink's farm. LOL

Glad you saved the little guy and set him free AND his family and friends didn't retaliate.

Wink

We had two wrens sneak in one Xmas eve. I'll never forget it.
I keep a fake birds' nest in a little Tiffany holder on the screened back porch near the door. These two were roosting in it. They had found a hole in the screen, and were living there for who knows how long?
My husband came home in the dark and went thru that door, so as not to disturb us for some reason and he spooked them.

They flew right in! We got them to leave, via an open door.
But that took an hour or so. I guess wrens are known for making nests near people etc...we just didn't know this.
That's why they are called house wrens! It was quite the evening! I'll never forget it.

We used to get a lot of birds in here before dh fixed the chimney. The worst was that baby black bird - they are awkward and goofy when they're young, but pretty big, up close! He was screaming and flapping, stuck in my tiny bathroom flopping into everything.

Weirdest invader was the baby bunny though. I was way pregnant and ds was 5. He says, "Mom, there's a rabbit in the middle of the room." Real casual.

I was like, yeah, right.

And I look, and sure enough!

Here I was 8 mos preggy, chasing the thing all over. Too funny.

Glad you got his outside where he belongs!! We had a bird fly down our wood burning stove chimney. Luckily there was no fire at the time. I could hear it fluttering in there. When we opened the top it flew out. We had a blast trying to catch it and get it outside!
