I "accepted" the sales job and the start date is January 4th. BUT, I have an interview on Monday for the accounting job so if they tell me I get that job and it looks better, I'll rescind my acceptance of the first job before the first day.

I feel so lucky to be in this position!!!

Ok they're still taking a very long time deciding (or letting me know) about the accounting job. I finally did some calling and emailing and I should know next week. They might actually be putting together some sort of other job from what I heard through the grapevine. They also need a billing clerk; and I was telling them I have some experience in seeking grants, technical writing and computer trouble shooting so they might want me for those reasons even if I didn't get the accounting job (which would be fine with me as long as it paid as well.)

But I'm going to be starting the sales job tomorrow because "a job in the hand is worth two in the bush" lol. If they make a better offer for the other job, I'll explain to the first employer and hopefully they'll understand. It's not like they don't have a lot of people who'd be willing to take my place anyway.

I'll be staying in the 'burbs for the training M-TH night because the weather is too nasty to commute when I'm trying to concentrate and learn a new job.
