I was trying to get sleepy enough to drop off. NOTHING on TV. I have hundreds of channels, and nothing to watch! So, I flipped from channel to channel till I landed on one of those shopping channels. It was a book about saving money, and tips and tricks to use the things already around your home. They started naming off tips like using garlic pills on your animals instead of flea collars. Hmm, or yeast, and salt to unclog a drain! I had to have it. I am not an impluse shopper, but got up out of my bed, to go order on the internet. They kept talking about how busy the phone lines were. As soon as i crawled back in bed secure in the knowledge that i got one of those books, they annoucned it was sold out! How come I got a buzz from that? is this the shoppers high they speak of? Sheesh!

Dejibo,
Freeze your card in a block of ice to help prevent these impulse purchases. I did get a Snuggie at a gift exchange and love it. Now Sham Wows are looking good to me. I can beat this thing. I can. What are the 12 steps for Shoppers Anonymous?

The 12 Steps
1. No late night TV watching. 2. Do not memorize card number. 3. If you find yourself reaching for remote, reach for a drink instead. (we'll deal with that problem if it arises later). 4. Recognize Holidays make you very vulnerable. 5. Get a non-shopper buddy or mentor. 5 is as far as I can go. Be strong and avoid the demon shopping!! (although Rum with Egg-Nog OK)

Lol, I'm often tempted also and I use to work as a pitch man so I know many of the gaffs they use to make the stuff look impressive.
Let us know if there are any interesting tidbits we can't live without. FWIW I'd skip the garlic on your pets. ![]() http://www.vetinfo.com/dtoxin.html

I love to watch QVC. My big weakness is their Philosophy shows. But, not actually having the money to spend is a great deterrent to caving in to a whim!!
![]() Sometimes they actually have good deals. But, I must be getting impatient in my old age because after about five minutes of talking about the same thing I get bored. I mean really......how much can be said about shower gel??? ![]()

hey kick... sham wows...they are awesome...but the same as the knock off walmart sells. DH2B mixed them together and we can't tell a difference other than I overpaid for mine.
Oh and BTW the knitting machine they sell on QVC is a horrible waste of time and money. I was impressed with the snuggie. Too hot for me though, but my mom LOVES it!

If you want a knitting machine, look around for a fancy commercial one...made all out of metal, not that plastic crap (Amazing Sweater Machine is not all that Amazing...except for the giant yarn tangles...they get amazingly caught up in the machine) The fancy commercial machines cost in the thousands of dollars tho.
This is an interesting article that talks about what you need to know about machine knitting. As for the home shopping channels. I ordered some flashlights last week for my dad to use as gifts (I already picked out the one I want...they were in different colors. Mine is blue) I called Home Shopping Network, and they already had my name. (caller i.d. brought up my info) I'd called them once back in 1998 to order a ring, and hadnt ever ordered anything else from them since then. Was surprised they still had my address info. (it was wrong, because we'd moved) It was sooooooo easy to order those flashlights. My dad was watching again a couple of nights ago, and I was watching it too...they had these nice purses on that night, and my dad told me to go downstairs and order one for my mom. I decided to show him how scary easy it was to order from them. I picked up the phone and called. I was off the phone within two minutes. My dad was in awe, and also a little frightened. He thought it was so cool tho. He's done most of his shopping online or thru catalogs this year. If he'd known how easy it was to order off one of those shopping channels, he'd have been doing that too.

I dont know my card # by heart, and I have to go into the cold kitchen, and dig thru my pocket book that is buried under all the coats, hats, gloves and so on. Normally the mat is wet because its where everyone takes off their coat and boots. I am really good about non impulse buying, and use a debit card if I use any card. So, it wasnt the money I was bugged about altho, I did see this cutie lil camera that would look so nice! and oh! oh! oh! they had this lil printer gadget that...well, you know
![]() Sheesh! its like extra easy to get hooked on that rush! I have never been a shop at home kinda gal, but this may change me! its scary how easily you can be talked into a plaid scarf at 2am! ![]()

I am addicted to QVC on Sundays at noon. That is when it is everything
for cooking, cooking books, food, and on and on. My family used to call me and DH the gadget people. Now I guess I am the gadget MOM!!! Jappy ![]() |

I love home shopping, but I always check the reviews before buying stuff. Just like any other things i buy, I find I save a lot of trouble from other people's experience with these things.
But they do sell some really good things - Candle Impressions flameless candles are one of my faves, and Tempt-tations bake ware is really good, and a good price. A lot of stuf is hard to resist so I try to only watch when there's a reason to shop. The rest of the time there is usually some crab show or ghost hunters to take my mind off it. ![]()
