yeah...about that desk I had built.
When it first started, I had an electrician come in, and fish some electricity to the wall so that I could have a power source for my tv that I was planning on hanging on the wall. Best Buy came here today to hang the tv, and wouldnt you know...the electricians didnt put the outlet in the right spot, and my stupid tv has a design flaw and the power cord and the cables on the back of the tv are keeping the tv from being hung. ~grumble~ So, my tv is still on the floor, blocking the front of my cabinet under the bookcase. I now have three huge holes in the plywood on the wall where the Best Buy Geek tried to hang my tv. (that'll be covered by the tv eventually...I hope!) I have to wait till monday for the electrician, because I have to go to the dentist tomorrow. The electrician is going to have to move the outlet four inches up, and then somehow cover the massive hole that moving the outlet is going to leave, so that the BB Geek will be able to have something to anchor my tv to. This sounds expensive. I'm irritated. The electrician, who had the plans, didnt center the outlet either. (this was done before the desk was built, but he had the measurements for everything) The Geek told me if the outlet had been centered, it probably would have been ok, but because it wasnt centered, there was no way for the Geek to center my tv because of where the cords on the back of my tv stick out. (they stick straight out on the back of the tv, unlike other flat panels that have the cords come off sideways on the back.) I just want my stupid tv off the floor and on the wall. I guess this gives me time to paint the black plastic grommet covers antique white so that they wont looks so freakishly weird in the white woodwork with my powercords going thru them.

This doesn't seem like rocket science or brain surgery. DH did it with measurements, etc, he once worked as a contractor. Seems BB geek guy should have experience or electrician should. If not, are you hiring idiots?. There are good people out there. Can carpenter hang more paneling or wood over holes? I've gone through many renovations, DH worked for very exacting wealthy clients and things had to be done in a seemly and attractive manner or we were not paid. You deserve a job done right.

well, at least it wasnt the company that built the desk that screwed stuff up...but now I have to deal with the stupid electrician on monday, and he sure had a heck of an attitude on the phone yesterday when I called to tell him they need to come move that outlet.
At least I had other stuff for him to fix...the outlet under the desk that they never screwed to the wall...and they need to reactivate the outlet I had them cover because I thought my laundry cabinet was going to cover it. (Changed the laundry cabinet because it was going to be too big)

It always goes like this. The electrician may have figured - like the BB guy said, - most tvs have the cables off to the side. Both of mine do.
We've been working on my house for 20+ years and not one job goes without a hitch. It's just life, you know? Check the weather, all clear for a week they say, start building a shed and it starts to rain. Ground is all soggy where it was never soggy for 15 yrs. Go figure. It happens every time. It's not for the faint of heart.

Erin,
You're nice and younger - all the things I'm not anymore. Looking back, DH got the electrcian lots of work and he really liked DH, who had a new job and traveled. And I was young and in great shape then and he liked me, but liked DH..... Between guilt and whatever, my electricity was great, emergencies never lasted long. Here I pay well, and baked cookies for this little electic boys. They found snake skins in crawl spaces which delighted those young men even more. Hmm, don't think I could pull it off now.... Now in a chair, them and the heating guys can't do enough for the crip. My AC went out broken, within hours they had me running. When furnace went, same thing.DD says I use my crip-dom well.. hmm...

My mom's flat screen had a protruding plug in the back of the tv too. I simply removed the plastic piece that was holding it and re-fished the plug to an opening on the bottom. I was able to hang her tv up once I did that.
