Default Never using that particular company again...

There's a chain electronics store, that has their own installation crews for things like entertainment centers and hanging flat screen tvs on the wall. They dress up in the uniforms and have badges...named after a common circus/carnival act that used to bite heads off of chickens.

I was trying to get my tv mounted on the wall last week by one of these guys, and he had a problem. Told me that I had to have the electrician come out and move the outlet and that I'd have to cut a big hole in the wall to put a 2x4 in there to hold my tv up. Sounded destructive and expensive.

So, I call my electrician and told him the problem...he's here now just flabbergasted at what kid told me last week.

Discovered that the kid walked off with half the parts to the tv mount...and he was trying to anchor my tv to the wall with these little plastic thingies that were totally inadequate for the job. (meaning, the tv would have fallen on my head, taking parts of the wall with it) The kid last week told me that there were no studs behind that wall. (even with the fancy stud finder he had, he couldnt find them)

So, I'm having the electricians hang my tv on the wall, and hopefully will be able to not spend the $250 that the electronic store wants. So far, they've been able to find the studs, (16 inches apart) by just tapping on the wall...and figured out a way to hang my tv on the wall without cutting the wall apart. (they went and bought two boards that they're screwing to the wall on the studs that they're going to put the mount on)

This tv wont be falling off the wall onto my head. The house will come down before that tv will.

I'm getting ready to call that particular electronic store to cancel the installation from them. I'm just waiting till they're not drilling into the studs so that I can hear myself think. I'm probably going to pay the electricians here today more than the $250 that I was going to pay the other guys for. But, at least I wont have a 30 pound tv falling on my head someday in the future.

Glad that I had 3 other electrical things that needed to be done while the electricians were going to be here...so I think we'll get our money's worth. At least it's going to be done correctly and safely.
