Default Winter Olympics

Not planning to watch much. I kinda got "Winter Olympicked" out in 2002, during my first MS flare, when I was recovering from both the stroke-like symptoms, and, even worse, the severe dizziness that caused nausea and sometimes vomitting when in an upright sitting or standing position. Although I was grateful, then, for something to watch on TV, it now brings back memories that I don't wish to re-live.

Have tended to follow the Summer Olympics more, because DD was a competitive swimmer for 9 yrs. But, I've had about enough of Michael Phelps, and, I doubt if Dara Torres will come back again. I guess there are a few other swimmers that I could still follow that I'm familiar with.

The winter olympics stuff scares the bejeebers out of me. One young luger already lost his life in a practice race.

I'm not sure if our USA downhill skier will be able to compete, since she has already been injured in practice.

I like to watch the Ice skating, but, even that scares me a little.

I know that the risk is part of the thrill, but not for me.

I cannot believe they televised that poor man's accident. It was horrific and didn't need to be sensationalized like it was. I realize that they were trying to point out a deficiency in the tracks safety but it could have been done without the visual of him flying off the track and colliding with that beam.

Wahoo! one of the down hild mogul skiers Hannah Kearney is from Lebanon NH. She took the Gold last night! Wahoo! go NH!

I think we have 10 residents of NH in the Olympics. We are well represented.

I watched the speed skating last night. It was very exciting.

That Apollo Ohno is one great strategist and skater. His move at the end of the qualifying rounds was amazing.

Then the crash of the two Korean skaters at the end that wound up giving Ohno the silver instead of fourth place. Great stuff.

And the young USA skater that had the accident in the trials, he got the bronze.

I am not a big fan of snow stuff, never lived in snow. Never even slid down a hill in snow.

But that was great. just really great.

Grew up in snow, in Canada. Went to "the hill" sledding almost every Sat. all winter. Sometimes ice-skating at the outdoor rink. Ice-skating rink in every school playground. Hill in every park.

Used to snow-ski too. Too old for all of that now, and I've lived in KS too long. We get some snow, but not near as much as in SK. And, I don't even like it anymore.

My Canadian friends are pretty pumped at how well the Canadians are doing. I'm especially glad for them, since they are hosting the games!
