Yikes, Legz! I guess I never gave it a 2nd thought. If the pill looks the same, I take it. Of course, I only take 2 meds other than C.

I agree with Jules, I'd called a little higher up as there is a obvious flaw in the system and/or with that particular store. You may not be the only one this is happening to and it may be a regular thing. You could actually save someone's life, as you have heard from stories on here, by mentioning it to the district manager.

On a side note, Walgreen's Pharmacy is a very competitive place to work - they have to compete with each other and other WG Pharmacies in regards to sales. I know a couple pharmacists that quit from there and came to work at the hospitals/clinics I was working at due to such. They place a lot of pressure on their employees. Since learning this years ago, I stopped getting my prescriptions filled there.

It is true, we are all human and we all make mistakes, but it is really scary when those mistakes are made.

I did speak to the head pharmacist about it today when I went in. They gave me a $25 gift certificate...that can only be used on one purchase of $25 or more and has to be on a new prescription.... I gave it back to him.

My copay on my prescriptions is always less than $25. And to be perfectly honest, I just don't trust them to fill my meds anymore. I had to fight them for over a week to get DD's allergy meds. And the controlled drugs coming up short more than once sends up red flags for me. Someone is either horrible at their job or they are skimming. Either way I don't trust them with my life.

I will still use them for other things, but I am done with their pharmacy dept.

One of my friends is a pharmacist. he said theft is so common, and it scares him. To snag a pill or two, at first, and then they take 4 or 5 and then 10 or 12, and before you know it, 13 customers are complaining. If those pills went into their pockets, and not into left in the counts, then...its your word against theirs once you leave.

Even though my friend is the lead pharmacist where I get my meds, I still pop the tops, and look at them. the DC with a circle means someone double counted them, but if he hands it to a co worker and says "I got 30 what do you get?" then the co worker expects 30, and doesnt see the lable says 35.

Every other month, there is a sign on the door that says "pharmacy help wanted" I asked Ken, and he said that 99% of the time, he catches them skimming off the pills. He doesnt get to personally screen who is hired. Rite Aid does it for him. He said the moment the new guy/gal walks in, he knows its a repeat, and they have had several arrested.

Scary!

unfortunately i'm not surprised to hear this. in this do more with less business model we seem to be in i think this is becoming more frequent. if you really feel you are losing sensitive meds and getting an incorrect count i'd even call the cops or the DEA.

i've found errors myself. it's important to know what your pill is supposed to look like and know the correct name; generic and brand. know which one you're getting.

dej is right about talking to the pharmacist. he's the one with power, and accountability.

and that was a great idea about taking the med back to the dr.
