Default Grease is coming and I'm so excited!

Ever since my DD saw Grease the movie years ago she has loved it and we've watched the movie tons of times. We've seen the play twice now, both as high school productions.

When NBC had the reality show Grease - You're the One that I Want we watched it together and voted for our favorites online. After the winners for the broadway show were announced my DD said she wanted to go to NYC to see the play and was disappointed when I said no.

A few months ago my girlfriend and I made plans and got tickets to see Grease with our DDs when it is here next month. My DD was joking and said I wonder if it's the Danny and Sandy who won on the show. Well just yesterday I started seeing the advertisements for the musical and both her and I are very excited to see that it is the Danny and Sandy that we voted for.

I'm so glad we didn't know this when we bought our tickets two months ago, otherwise my DD would be driving me crazy all this time. We got great seats - second row in the balcony!!

I remember when that movie came out.

I was young enough to enjoy the music and the movie, and not quite old enough to totally understand all the words to certain songs. (Greased Lightning, in particular)

It was one of those movies that you fall in love with and enjoy forever...kind of like Star Wars. You can see it so many times that you know all the lines of every actor. (Star Wars and Grease are the only movies I can really do that with...altho there are whole scenes in Dances With Wolves that I know too. Seen all three of those movies a zillion times...)

I've seen a couple of productions of Grease...mostly high school plays. I went to a few showings at the high school I graduated from when they used to do Grease every year for a few years. Funny to watch my old science teacher playing the part of the gym teacher (dont know if the school used the original play or the movie version)

In the movie, I used to hate the character of Rizzo...didnt like Stockard Channing for some reason. Now she's one of my favorite characters because now I'm old enough to really appreciate what an excellent singing voice Stockard Channing had in that movie.

I wonder if I still have the vinyl records of the two Grease albums...I had the John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John version AND the original score from the play in the 1950s (or was it in the 60s?) I wonder if we still have those now.

I should go see if I can download them on iTunes! Now I have an urge to listen to Sha Na Na and Frankie Vali.

When they re-released Grease for the movie theaters years back a bunch of us girls went and saw it - it was a blast! As for those words, unforturnately my DD, although she is only 11 and way too young IMO, understands them and what they mean. It's amazing when we were that age we did quite get it but nowadays kids know way more than they should! When High School Musical came out my DD's friends all loved the movie but my DD didn't like it because she was spoiled after seeing Grease.

That is great, so you're going to the city with your DD? That will be a lifetime memory for both of you!
