So I called my neuro this week and left a message that I needed a refill on the NSAID. The nurse called me back to let me know she had called it in to Walgreens. I then explained to her about the last 2 prescriptions being short. She offered to call back and take it out, no big deal just check with me next time.
Today I had DH2B pick up my prescrioption for me. Was in the middle of cooking dinner when he got home. Just took the pills out of the bag. Counted and wouldn't you know?? I am 2 short! I never even spent the gift certificate the pharmacist gave me last time after the percocet incident! I just sent an email to their corporate offices. I am not concerned with the 2 missing pills, and I know they will probably call me tomorrow and tell me I can pick them up, but it is just annoying. I have had 5 prescriptions filled in the last month and 3 of them have come up short.

the coporate office NEEDS to know about this hot spot of errors. Its ok to be shorted a pill on an NSAID, but what happens to the elderly? They are chosing cat food over prescriptions, and when they get their script filled, are being short cutted? My mom gets double strength stuff, and cuts it in half. It lasts twice as long that way, and the co pay is the same.
Please tell your MDs office about this, and have the nurse there check it out as well. They will start asking other patients if they are short cutted, and if so, they will report them to the authority. Someone needs to fix that mess. Its unfair to be in pain, and unable to live your daily life and have your disease working against you, without the drugstores pushing you into bankruptcy with short counts. what dopes!

I used to love Walgreen's. I'd be in there at least once a week.
When I moved I started going to another one closer to this house. It was like night and day. The people who worked there were unfriendly and the Pharmacy was terrible. I got my thyroid script transferred there from the other Walgreen's and when I picked it up I noticed the pills were larger and a different color. I assumed that they just used a different manufacturer....but these pills were twice the size of my other ones. I took the bottle back and showed it to the Pharmacist on duty. Come to find out it was the totally wrong med......I can't think of what it was but it was for something to do with the heart! She said "oh, it wouldn't have hurt you" and to that I said "oh, so it doesn't matter if I don't take my thyroid med?". No apology.....nothing. I went online and contacted the customer service department and complained. Within about a week I got a phone call from the manager of that particular Walgreen's. She was very unprofessional, sort of acted a little put out that she was having to contact me, and asked me what I wanted them to do for me. I told her if she couldn't come up with something herself then I wasn't going to do her job for her. I transferred everything to Rite Aid and haven't had a problem since. I just recently tried to use the WalMart mail order refill program but you have to have 90 day scripts for that. It would have saved me $$ in the long run.

Melody just posted that the online pharmacy Costco has,
is offering a year's supply of maintenance meds (generic) for $20.00. I'd look them up and call for info. Things like your thyroid might work. I use generic but only Mylan brand. I don't know what you are using.

He was very nice but he understood that I was not willing o use their pharmacy again, even after he offered me a second $25 gift certificate. Told him if I could use it in the store for something other than prescriptions I would be willing o use it. But I will not allow them to fill any more meds for me. And of course the gift cert is onl good for the pharmacy, so....
He did assure me he will be looking into the matter. Which is fine, but I am still not putting myself in a position where they will be handling my drugs. It kind of goes back to my main point that if I cannot get the correct number of pills, how do I know I am even getting the correct medication to begin with? Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it, but it doesn't effect me either way.

On ABC national news last night, they showed that its a nationwide epidemic that chain drug stores are really dropping the ball. The "pharmacy tech" only gets about 2 hours training, and then dumped into being the one who writes down your prescription. One woman got 10 mg of warfarin, instead of 1 and it caused her to have a massive stroke, they had to stop treating her breast cancer and she died. Walgreens paid 26 million to settle the case. It was revealed pharmacy's are under no obligation to report their mistakes. big ones, or small ones.
I dont want a 16 y/o kid who cant make fries at mcd's being the one in charge of getting my prescription started, or being in charge of making sure its right. Yes, there are great 16 y/o kids out there, but they are not a common occurance. If its a larger store, in a busy town, the chances of a mistake are HUGE! Please, know what pills you are supposed to be taking. What they look like. What the count is. If your MD prescribes something new, make sure you understand what kind of pill you are expecting. My mother's pill bottles now say "xanax a small football shaped white pill" right on the bottle! If it looks different than what you got last month, ASK! One pharmacist in charge of 6 kids back there isnt enough of a safe guard against our medicines being mixed up.

must depend where you live and who is working the Walgreens, the walgreens we use... WOW it is wonderful. Never been jipped any meds... never any mix ups... and the one guy who works there is so in tune with patients and customers... I call there with questions and he either knows answer or finds out and calls me back.... so depends... just like any company depends on the store and how run. hugss all, sarah

Walgreens is great IMO. My mom and I had to go there for some "supplies" for me and they happened to have a huge sale on them. We went to Rite-Aid to and they seemed like 1 or two dollars more expensive than Walgreens.
