Yes, it's far more ideal than anything else I've used, including those silly little clamp lamps that go on the book itself. It's also perfect for reading in bed as no matter your position, if you can read it, it's lighted.

I've got an old Petzl headlamp that has a halogen bulb in it. It runs off one OR two batteries when needed. It has an adjustable beam. It's been through hell over the years and has at least 5000 hours of use on it. I had to buy a new band after about 20 years, because the original lost it's elasticity, but other than that, it works just as well as it did the day I bought it. It came with a spare bulb tucked into the watertight seal compartment that covers the batteries. That bulb is still there, unused.

They are pricey but you get what you pay for, and these are worth every penny. Good company, good customer service, excellent headlamps.

I love my head lamp. I can concentrate on getting where I am going without fear of where the beam is pointed. its also great for reading. the light points where your face points. its great!

Ah ain't peed on my feet in the woods since I got it...
