Anne,

I sure hope you heal quickly!! That has got to be so painful!

I am ready to get back on NT and start playing the game board after almost 9 months of healing from my surgery. I will wait for you to feel better since we have been game buddies for so long.

Take care.

Default Update!

Thank you everyone for all the kind words and the much needed support.

I'm finally starting to get on top of this pain ... thank goodness .... (and thank you pain killers)!

I had a physiotherapist come to my home today to do a home assessment, and she's arranged some extra equipment for me. I can't use my rollator with one arm because it's far too awkward, and I'm too unsteady on my cane, so I'm now on a 4-pronged stick.

All my tummy and back muscles are so very sore from doing sit-ups...... just trying to get myself in and out of bed, so she's loaning me a bed rail as well so I'll at least have something to hold onto to sit myself up....and I have a new sling! Something as insignificant as a different sling has made such a difference! My neck muscles were getting so sore, but now I finally have both support and some degree of comfort. Ah bliss!

For any equipment we need here, there's a hire system where we pay a $50 fee and that covers one item, or 100 items .... and we can keep them as long as needed. Hubby still has equipment from his knee replacement op, so the things I got will just be added to what we already have here, and not cost us any more money.

Tomorrow I have an appointment with the orthopedic specialist. I'll get a new XRay to check the progress of the fractures, and if all's well, they said I may get a change of cast. I can't see it myself though as my hand is still quite swollen (and black, and blue, and green, and yellow, and lots of other colours in between), so I imagine I'll have to hang in with this back slab for at least one more weekl.

There's what we call an Occupational Therapist coming on Friday, to check to see if I need any extra help with ADLs, or any fittings for the house to make life easier for me at the moment. Hubby's showering me and dressing me and doing all the housework, but he's sure he can manage. Men!!!

I forgot to tell you earlier that when DH and I were coming out of the hospital on Friday, there were media everywhere. It's election time here, and there were expecting our state leader to arrive. (You call your state leaders Governors and we call our's Premiers.) A press conference was about to happen to discuss political policies regarding our health care. Anyway, our Premier saw us walking out and came and bailed hubby and I up. He shook hands and introduced himself as Dave! How cool is that? I'm now allowed to call our state leader 'Dave'. How many can greet their Governor by their first name?

I've completely missed your news Koala, sorry about that, but glad to hear you're back on track.

It's one of the best things about Oz I reckon. Bumping into your PM, premier or leaders on the street, being able to approach them and talk about issues.

Mike Rann is plain old Mike to us. Lots of talk the talk, waiting for action now.
