Default animal abuse commercials EEEK!

I saw an animal abuse commercial yesterday on the TV. I actually get up and TURN the station when I see such commercials, and as I got up, I saw the one where the man is kicking a lamb into the barn! how can they show this on TV during the day time? isnt that rated R?! They wouldnt allow a video game/movie with that level of violence to be shown during daytime/child is awake hours?!

Does it disturb anyone else when your in box or FB pages get flooded with those "help this poor animal" stuff? It makes me cringe! It upsets me and follows me all day long. I replay it over and over and over and over in my head! it sets off anxiety attacks!

Now, before you jump me. I do know that animal abuse IS real. I do know it exists. I am a large contributor to several help the animal funds, and rescue places, but I shouldnt have to be forced to see it should i?

How do you turn the image off in your head, once its been planted? I know they do it to make the image stick, but im sensitive and lost sleep over it! Make it stop!

Is it ok for them to show this during the day? isnt it too violent for daytime TV? are there not rules in place for censors? They wont show side boob during the day, but we can see animals being kicked?

Im so upset! make the image stop playing in my head.

Ugh.....Dej, I know exactly what you mean. I scramble for the remote whenever the Sarah McLaughlin song comes on and the images of the kitty with the scraped up nose and the starving dog are shown. It upset me to no end. I think the song of choice now is the Willy Nelson song "Maybe I Didn't Love You".

I do what I can......I volunteered for a no-kill cat shelter for a long time. They needed me to come into the shelter and I just couldn't do it. I did my volunteering from home making phone calls, doing computer work, etc. I know my limits and I know I can't afford to have anymore animals in my home so I just can't physically go to the shelter.

I understand they are trying to play to the empathy we animal lovers have.....but I end up crying if I dare to watch the whole commercial. Then, the rest of the day I'm upset about the animals I can't help.

To answer your question......I'm torn between saying yes and no. I know they need money. Desperately. But I also wonder if the sick people who get some sort of twisted enjoyment out of harming defenseless animals are given a reminder that they can do this and (most times) get away with it.

The commercials play constantly here on cable. It seems like it's one of three commercials that are played constantly in the evenings. (the other two are feed the children, and some cellphone thingie sold by some guy with an Australian accent)

I tend to just have the tv on in the background for noise in the evening. I cant look at the tv during the animal abuse commercials. Makes me want to vomit. They could shorten the commercial and take some of the graphic stuff out of it...it doesnt have to be so long. It would be just as moving even if they took out some of the graphic-ness of the pictures.

I love animals, especially dogs, and I think people who hurt animals and children need to be locked up forever. I've been giving money to our local humane society. I cant save every dog or other animal, but I can help support the ones that are lucky enough to get away from their abusers.

I'm with you, Just too sad and cruel to watch. Why should I, an animal lover, be subjected to this, while the perps are probubly getting a kick out of it.

I refuse to watch them.
