I have never sent a text and usually resent people who send them to me since I have to pay for them, TracFone. But on my trip to Fiji my friend was using her iPhone, even with long nails she can quickly type on it. It doesn't have little buttons and when you hit one it shows quite large. ATT was the only US carrier to work in Fiji, text cheap voice expensive. From this maybe some day.:)

I love my Tracphone!!!! I only use it when I want to, very few people know my number and they know to call me at home. I want my minutes to last the full year. I must admit I did text my DD one time when I knew she was at the movies and I know she is one of those people that automatically put her phone on vibrate when she enters a resuant or movie. It took me forever to taext a few words thoug and I tried to use those quirky abbreviations! I have gotten my DH to take it out with him when he does his Karoake. You never know when I might need him. We both have elderly sick Moms plus he knows that something can happen to me.

Oh, one good thing a cell phone does. It is a wonderful alarm clock!

Both my girls and thier husbands have cell phones that do everything but bake a cake. My 3 year old grandaughter knows how to call out. But I'll keep my Trachpone. I did upgrade to one that takes pictures. But I can only send them to another cell phone and not a computer.

I never even had a cell phone until I split with the ex last year, lol then it was time to try something new! I text, carry the cell phone around when I feel like it but still prefer face to face or the phone.

JMHO? some people couldn`t type an intelligent reply, hold an intelligent conversation prior to texting, nothing can help them.

I'm with you, Sally. I've been glad I got a microwave and a PC but can do without the other gadgets coming down the pike.

I do have a cellphone but got it only a few years ago, and it's a Tracfone. I use it only to make calls if I'm in transit somewhere and have no access to any other phone. I can't hear well on cellphones. They're not user-friendly for people whose hearing isn't good. (I use hearing aids.)

Most of these gadgets are costly--AND they're costly to repair or replace. I try to get along with as few of them as I can.:)
