Has texting entirely taken the place of a nice voice to voice conversation, now?

I just got off the phone biotching with a friend about this and she completely understood and agreed that texting on these itsy machines is abuse of the older and/or feebler.

My DD and Family don't answer their land line anymore and they just texy with everyone on their cells. DD answers her cell, if I'm lucky enough, that, she has it on!!

I love some of the changes that have happened....I finally got a microwave and a PC, without which, I could not survive, but texting is something I could do without, completely and forever and never miss it.

I guess I'll have to get one with a BIG screen, with big buttons and big letters, now, just so I can join back into the human race. I sure can't text on this itsy piece of crap I have (which DD got me, BTW).

Am I the only arcaic holdout on this tiresome, crude and rude change in communication? I Hate It!!!!!

Get a phone with a slide out keyboard.

I like texting because I can send a text and get a reply without staying on the phone forever. I still talk but not so much anymore. I get more done too!

Now my mom? Forgetaboutit. I have to call because she can't even find the answer button. I kid you not, the other day she called my sister's house phone thinking it was her cell phone and left a message. She even heard herself and thought she was hearing herself in the phone. Sally, she lives with my sister. LOL

Hate the thumbtalkers! I just put a block on my phone, no thumbtalkers allowed. I especially hate them when driving on MY roads. I'm on the verge of vigilanteism.

I joke with my DD that she needs to become a doctor so she can treat all the people who will end up with Thumbinitis in the future!

My sister sits in the same room as her son and they text one another instead of talking like normal people.

I had my DD teach me how to text on my new phone because I've come to realize I need to accept the fact that I will have no choice but to text. The good thing is if DD is in school and DH is at work I can just text a quick message and they can check it and respond when they can.

Sally,

If you get the Droid by Motorola on Verizon Wireless you not only have a slide out keyboard but you can send text messages by voice. I wish you lived nearby and I'd get you all set up with just the right phone and purty accessories too.

I'm of the "no-text" nation.
I won't text back if someone texts me. I call them when it is convenient for me and let them know I will NEVER answer a text. I delete them when I find them on my phone, without reading them.

I've lived my whole life without texting and I am sure I will be just fine without it. I have enough to deal with. Call me and come and see me if you like, leave a message at my home number and I promise I'll get back to you in a timely fashion, but don't text me.

And I'd even get my amazing Amazonian river rafting friend into a Droid, lol.

And voice to text just takes your voice, turns it into text and sends it as a text message. And I didn't even have a smart phone last year, lol, but I could sell you the top of the line smart phone and get it set up so it would be no trouble for you to operate.

I never thought I'd see the day I said this but I truly don't like all this new technology.

I don't text. Never have and never will. Both of my sons do. And they're so fast! I told them both they were going to get carpal tunnel if they kept it up.

How on earth do people type with their thumbs like that??? I can barely see the keyboard let alone be able to even type with one finger!

I receive text messages on my cell phone and, like River, they get deleted without even being read. Everyone who knows me knows this and I've made it perfectly clear that anything important should be conveyed to me via a phone call.

I remember when the pager became popular. And we thought that was futuristic! Compared to what we have today it was like sending smoke signals!
