Money is tight, we have a foot injury in the house that is more serious than we thought at first. The man rolled his foot and broke it, not outwards as is usual for ankle/foot injuries, but inward. I took a look at it after he was supposedly healed and it didn't look right, even though he had the aircast and all.

I took him to an orthopedic guy and he sent him downstate to the best guy in the state-reason?...it doesn't look right...no other explanation.

Turns out it didn't heal, it's a Charcot fracture and his big toe and second toe are pointing to the side and the rest are pointed straight. The ligaments and tendons are shot. the metatarsals are separated from the plate that they join to and he is trying an orthotic but may still end up having surgery which has a recovery period of 4-5 months on crutches...AAAAARRRRGH! In addition, Medicare is balking at paying for the orthotic even though the foot guy is going to bat for us and says the whole mess is due to diabetes, so we had to pay and attempt to get reimbursed by the government...and we all know how they are at paying their bills these days....

Well now that doesn't sound fun. Hope the man heals up quick and Medicare pays up.
