Default Toenails again? Really?

Didn't I just do that job??

One more thing for which I owe my dear departed Mom an apology: wondering why she made such a big deal about a "ten minute job", such as cutting her toenails.

Ten minutes plus two hours, including arranging for a crane to get me onto my feet afterward.

The night before has to be exemplary, the weather can't be rainy, I can't have done anything else that day or the day before, and can't expect to do anything the next day. It has to be the right side of the moon....not really. Holy. Cow.

And don't suggest having somebody else do it. Nobody TOUCHES my toenails, even if they grow two inches long and curl under like toenails on a fourteen year old guinea pig.

Oh, B2Y, you're missing out on the most glorious experience ever......a pedicure!! I used to be funny about having my feet touched. I'm very ticklish but once I took the plunge there's no getting me away from that pedi chair!! It's not a luxury for me....it's a necessity!

And there will probably come a day. But not yet.

A foot massage? Oooooooh, yes. But don't touch my toenails.

I used to be the same way. Just the thought of anyone rooting around my feet made me cringe.

Then I was enlightened. I went with a friend to get a pedicure and I've never looked back. I was a little intimidated at first because the "nail techs" were speaking a different language and every time they would all laugh at the same time I just knew they were saying something about my feet. Now, I could care less. Laugh all you want.

It's truly a job made in Hell, B2Y. but somebody's gotta do it, or we'll all look like Howard Hughs, when we die.

I love my monthly pedicures!

I'd do them myself, except my feet have gotten further away from my hands, so I can't reach them with the paintbrush, lol!

Oh B2U -- a subject near to my heart......errrr.....feet. You're spot on when you described the "conditions" necessary before you can cut, the weather factor, positioning, reaching, exhaustion, etc. It all sounds so familiar. A ten minute job takes forever now and sometimes has to be split up into two sessions!!

A friend has found a podiatrist who will come to the house in certain circumstances being I can't get out. But like you, no way Jose!!! A pedicure would be fine if my feet were "normal", but from the MS or Fibromyalgia, my toenails are sore all the time and I really don't want to act like a big baby in front of a doctor!!! Yes, one toe curls under and the nail is growing right with it. Then there's a fungus amongus. I HATE THIS DISEASE!!! It literally affects EVERY aspect of our lives sooner or later.

I look at my pedicures not as a luxury but a necessity for my foot care. With my numb right hand and arm I have a very hard time holding onto clippers. Plus, using my hand/arm for any amount of time just results in fatigue. Then other sx creep up. So, I do the pedicure twice a month for health purposes but it sure is relaxing, too!

In the baby section of Wal-Mart, Target., etc. they sell clippers with Molded to hands bars that are encased sometimes in soft plastic. DS at 18, has no MS but takes clippers from me to use.
