"Maybe we should start a commune!" Too funny, a lady that I hang out with at times and her girl friend told me I should start one. " Nothing bothers you much", if I can`t change it I should let it bother me? and at this point no ties so if something does bother me I can just walk away and not get any grief over it!

LOL I move way to slow to be bored!

I certainly have days when I'd like to whine, too. My life has not gone the way I'd hoped. And, even if it wasn't for the MS, etc., I just truly wished that I could have quit growing older back in my late 20's/early 30's.

Don't want to be (almost?) middle-aged; don't want to be an empty-nester. Loved being a young parent, and would gladly, if I could be young and healthy, choose to be happily "stuck" in that phase for decades.

Whine away. Too many alone or house-bound days sounds like something worth complaining about.

Some day, if you ask for advice, we may be able to come up with some (useful, or not -- lol). But, for now, yeah, just hugs.

DH and I have grown to love the empty nest. Now if I could only find a job where I don't have to stand or sit for long periods of time and can go to the bathroom whenever I need, which is often
I find myself wondering about quality of life when you can't do anything...then I was listening to a radio program this afternoon. The subject was allowing people to die who have catastrophic illness.
Callers discussed how their child with cerebral palsy was the greatest gift in their lives. One caller stated we wouldn't have Stephen Hawkings' great mind if his family, esp his brother, had gotten their way. Talked about how Hawking is now so happy he got to see his kids grown up...

I guess it depends on quality of life as WE determine...we always hear "there's always someone worse off than you". Well, IMO, that doesn't invalidate our problems!! How to find quality when one is immobile and without resources to get out is the problem of those of us who are ill and aging...

Maybe I'm just too fond of my own company but I don't usually mind being alone, with the phone never ringing except when it's a wrong number.

Sometimes the thought passes through my mind that it would be nice to have more contact with the son, daughter-in-law, nephew with a wife and 3 grown kids in this town I moved to nearly 10 months ago, but everybody has made it clear that they have their lives to live and they expect me to keep a low profile.

Maybe it's just as well. If you're a woman you tend to be nice and agreeable and you want to be helpful, but
people tend to take advantage of that. Maybe it's a good idea as we get older if we learn how to keep our doors shut except on the rare occasions when we really want to be helpful and feel we have time and energy for it.

Just my two cents...

Um, excuse me Ms. Twinkletoes but I dialed that number in various combinations and got no one but a recorded message that I reached and invalid number and to check the number again. What's the correct number? It's hot as heck here and a little humid so I could use some entertainment.

Cabana boys, Yardhunks, it's all the same. LOL

We should start a list of things to do when we are bored. Maybe we can inspire each other in or out of boredom. LOL

1. I doodle a lot or take a piece of paper and just put dots on it. Eventually I come up with some cool stuff. Some days, although not lately as it is too hot out in the garage, I paint.
2. I think of a topic and then research it on the internet. Lately I have been reading books about design (industrial) and the Craftsman/Art Deco period. When I come across a person's work that I like, I research it. I have learned so much by doing this. Also, watching the news and knowing how biased the reporters are (hey, it's yellow journalism), I many times dig deeper in to the subject just so I can come up with a truth. However, that can get depressing. The media is depressing. So, I stopped watching it because I saw the untruths they were reporting.
3. I just started a beauty journal and list all the things I find beauty in and why. Everything varies but, sometimes it's the people I have met and other times it is places I have been to. Like for instance, yesterday it was our Twinks day. I wrote how I met her and what a beautiful, loving, and fun person she is. Warmth and compassion just surrounds her and she makes you feel welcome and comfortable.

What do you all do to entertain yourself and/or pull yourself out of boredom?
