Default Online Treasure Hunt . . . Just for Fun

The internet, when used properly, is an awesome tool. It is like having a library in your house without the clutter of books. I love to learn and when I don't know what something is or the meaning of something or want to learn more about the subject, I look it up. It is has also been a great source of inspiration for my artwork.

This thread is for the little tidbits of interesting information we come across as well as just to have fun with it all. Giggles, smiles, and smart ask remarks as well as hijacks are always welcome. In fact, this is rule number 1. You can post links, pictures, quotes, etc. - pretty much anything that interests you.

The 2nd rule is to try to keep MS out of it. We know we have it, we know it can be a drag and so let's try to take a break from all that and have fun.

So let the treasure hunt begin. . . .

Default Oka What?

Saturday I borrowed a book from a neighbor on animal drawings. I can across the page with giraffe's and saw something called an okapi. I really didn't know what it was so I looked it up. To me it totally looks like a cross between a giraffe, horse, and zebra. What do you all think? BTW - It is part of the giraffe family.

Another cool find. . . .

I like architecture and came across this image this past weekend. It is called a ghorfa and they used them to store grains and oil in Africa. Pretty neat looking.

I looked it up. It is one of the last remaining ancestors of the common giraffe. It does have some zebra like markings. It is found mainly in the Congo. And of course there is more about it. Interesting.

For every piece of art made, this site donates $1 to end hunger. It's only done once a year so bookmark the page for next year. You can upload an image or draw, choice is up to the artist. The art in the gallary is amazing, all on a piece of bread. Who knows? Maybe next year you could be chosen as a featured artist and help end hunger at the same time! http://breadartproject.com/#/home

I did this one in June this year:

Are they cool! DD20 called them a freak of nature. But, I was pretty fascinated by them.

Heck no! But it was fun to do and help end hunger. I posted so others could do it next time. Good cause, fun and free.

If you have never heard of Grandma Prisby's Bottle Village....

It is so COOL! Found it online when I was looking for a glass recycling co a few months ago. I really would love to go see it in person!
