Default You know... some days!

OK so I call the ortho this morning... why? because i think I broke another one! new pain is further down than the others. Of course he is on vacation. They tell me to go to ER for xray.

I call pcp-> see if he can just order the xray... nope! he's still on vacation. They tell me to go to ER. I say why? they still haven't fixed the first 4 and I have plenty of pain meds. They will just take an xray, tell me yay or nay and send me back to follow up with ortho.

Then neuro calls -> Unrelated. I tell her about it. she too says go get xray, they may go on and decide to schedule you for vertebroplasty instead of waiting on bone density scans and the lumbar mri which will be after you see ortho 2 weeks form now.

SOOOOOOOOO, looks like i will be swinging by the er after my endo appt today! sheesh!

Well boys and girls it seems it was idiot day at the hospital today and noone bothered to let me know before i showed up!

Now, the common sense side of me stopped into my new endo's office 2 days ago while i was in the building and i filled out medical release forms so that he could have my history and latest bloodwork results when I came today for my appointment.... but did they bother to fax out those request forms?? HECK NO!! So, I meet the new endo, he gives me an order for more bloodwork and tells me there is nothing else he can do until he gets my med history from the other docs! But he will call me when they get them. GRRRRRR

Then I head over to the ER... Explain the situation to the nurses and let them know I only need an xray. no meds, no consult, just an xray. I think I may have broken a bone in my lower lumbar or my coccyx.

No problem they say...

They get me back, we go over all the paperwork and history and meds and 20 minutes later I am being wheeled to xray.
And an hour after i am done with xrays i spot the doc sitting st the nurses desk eating lunch... and an hour after that he comes in to tell me...

the doc that read the xrays (who is apparently not the doc i am seeing) didn't see anything wrong other than the t11-t12 fractures. But upon looking at the films, there may be a possible hairline fracture to my coccyx... but it is inconclusive.

so yes, 3 hours after i checked in, I left with the news... I may have possibly broken my buttbone. Yes, this is the same statement that is printed in my handwriting on the check in form!

yup! welcome to virginia!

That's not good Leggz.

The tailbone (coccynx) is one of the many bones that I've broken, and I remember how much it hurt to sit on.

I bought myself a circular cushion with a hole in the middle ...... Ahhhh! Instant bliss!

The one I got was a rubber blow-up one, but I see they sell foam ones now. They would probably work just as well, for less cost.

WHAT are they going to do to help you? Don't you need surgery, or a brace, or something? If you walk around with broken bones isn't it going to make it worse? I hope you'll get some help for this soon.

Dealing with so much incompetence lately myself, I felt my blood pressure surge just reading all that!

I broke mine too and Anne's suggestion is great! Wish I had thought of that for myself.

I so empathize with your frustration, Legz! Try to make plenty of down time to hopefully give it a chance to heal while the geniuses enjoy their lunches and fun all weekend.
