Frown My bad

And please note, that's with a and not a . I'm not saying "hee hee, I was naughty and I don't care, so there!" I'm frustrated and NOT proud of myself.

I was brought up (and believe) that it's rude to say "I'll try" or "Maybe I'll come" if one has no intention whatsoever of showing up. And that's just what I did.

I got an invitation with the options "yes, no, maybe" and I just up and checked "maybe", even though I absolutely positively will NOT be going.

I just didn't have it in me to say "no" and either explain yet AGAIN or let them draw their own conclusions. Yes, I know that a polite but firm "thanks for asking me, but no" would be the thing to do, but I just...could...not.

I took the weasel way out, and I DO care, but I did it anyway. And now maybe I understand that not everybody that says "maybe" when they mean "no" is rude. (Some are)
