Does anyone have it? Is it worth it? How much does it cost? As we are entering our retirement years we are thinking about things

I have it, but I have had it since long before the MS dx. its expensive, even tho I was given the policy when I was in my 20s. its part of a package of benefits I chose from work. If I break it down it costs me about $50 every other week. If I saved $100 dollars per month for the last 25 years, I would have a truck load of money, but would it be enough? Glad I have it, and glad I didnt drop it the many time I looked at it and wondered.

I suspect that it's worth it, if you start young, like Dej. Nursing homes can easily cost $5,000 per month. So, even if Dej has spent $25,000+ on coverage, it wouldn't take long to spend that if health care was needed there.
However, I expect that premiums increase dramatically with age, and would not be affordable for someone "entering retirement years", even without MS. Statistics show that less than 5% of people over 65 reside in nursing homes, and, less than 20% of people over 85 live in nursing homes. I know that I have MS, but even 75% of people with MS do not end up in W/C's. I'm just hoping that I'll be OK without nursing home insurance, because I'm sure it's not possible to get it anymore, with my MS. ~ Faith

I was rejected by two, yes two, insurance companies BEFORE I got the MS diagnosis. Reason: MS like symptoms...they can reject you even if you just seem like you have a disease...I wouldn't care if they charged me more, but I would sure like the opportunity to buy into a plan, since prices in the medical field keep skyrocketing.
If it comes to me needing to go into a nursing home, I'm going to go to Alaska and find me an ice floe to jump on...
