Never knew spider bites were bad, except for black widow. What's a brown recluse spider look like? Aside from brown, I mean...

Some spiders have a enzyme?? or something that breaks down flesh when they bite you, It looks like that is what happened to you.

My SIL had two bad spiders bites in the same year a few yrs ago.

There is a distinct 'violin' shape on it's back.......google and see.
Spiders are a nightmare.

I live in the mid USA and they pretty much set up camp ANYwhere.
Especially near woodpiles, etc.....

I keep work gloves wherever I go ....... but they can crawl in them too!

My aunt got stung by a black widow about 10yrs ago. She'd gotten some linoleum flooring from a hardware store, a remnant piece to line a closet with. It was rolled up. She got it home, unrolled it, and was carrying it to the closet that she was going to put it on the floor in, when she felt something scurrying up her leg. (she was wearing shorts)

She reached to swat at whatever was under the fabric of her shorts, and felt something sting her...swatted at it again, and saw this big black spider fall out onto the pavement.

I remember she didnt think much of it, but the next day her thigh was infected and she said she felt really sick. I dont remember all her symptoms but she had some sort of stomach ache. She ended up having to have the wound debrided at the ER of the hospital she works at, and I dont remember if they gave her any special medicine or antivenin or something...just remember that she was sick for awhile, maybe from the infection?

The other night, we were all sitting outside chatting (aunt lives across the street from me and my parents) and she was wearing a robe because it was cool outside. She got home, put her robe up on the hook by the door. A little later, she was putting the robe on to take her pug outside. The dog went nuts. Was tearing at her robe, and barking. My aunt quit trying to put the robe on, and was about to yell at the dog when a giant spider (aunt thinks it was another black widow) fell onto the kitchen floor. The dog leaped on the spider and smooshed it. My aunt was happy that her little pug was her big, brave protector and probably kept her from getting sick from another spider bite.

The dog now loves to kill spiders when we're sitting outside. We need to get her a scoreboard to put tic marks thru drawings of spiders for all the spiders that pug has smooshed in the last week.

Are you sure you want to continue living in Arizona, Earl??? Seems like you've had a few too many encounters with those creepy crawlies. Seriously, hope it heals quickly and wearing gloves sounds like a good idea!

Dude, that does look nasty but no pain? Really? I think I'd flood it with peroxide a couple times a day and let it dry up. It's ugly, that's for sure.

Didja bite it back?

Yeah! That's probably a fake finger that he got at Party City and decided to post it so we would all freak and shower him with attention. That's why he left the most important factor out. You know how these drama "Kings" work.

How are you doing today King Earl?

Default Finger day 3

Cindy- True, but I gotta be me

TK- think it's fake? lets go to lunch and I can feed you finger food,

Here's a pic day 3. no redness so no infection. my neighbor (the Dr.) says it should heal in a few weeks.

When I say it doesn't hurt, it really doesn't. Maybe it's the percocet I take for my regular pain covering it up. Sure it hurts if I touch it but not in general. AND Laura is doing the dishes for me. Bonus.

It looks better. It must be healing. Lucky for you, to have an ER Doc and a Paramedic, as next door neighbors.

Cindy's just jealous 'cuz you're getting all the attention.

Hope you cleaned out the mailbox. That would have been my first priority after the doc.
